Alternative medicines

I have been prescribed Everolimus and Exemestane. I am leery of Everolimus and would like to find another oral drug to take along with Everolimus or another combo or a single drug, because of the mouth problems. Does anyone have experience with this? I know it is a bit of a stretch but thought I would ask anyhow.

Cheers, June S.

I am adding in here, by alternative, I don't mean unprescribed medicines. Thanks,

Cheers, June S.

The mouth problem is manageable . Use the prescription mouthwash and if need be there is a cream that goes directly on the sores works wonders. I got a rash but there’s a cream for that too. All chemo has SE. managing them is key. Good luck and I’m hope you have good run.

Thanks very much. I am nervous because I had a bad reaction to Xeldoa even with the mouthwash. Ended up in Emerg at the hospital. Took almost a week to get back to normal. Everolimus has even more problems with mouth problems. I am being started at the very lowest dose but I am still apprehensive. Thinking I would rather take nothing then have a bad reaction again.

There are other options I am now on Xeloda but I chose to go through with Everolimus to extend time. Ask your onc

Thanks. I did try Xeloda and had the bad reaction on it. Everolimos is much the same side effect. Hence my concern. I did ask my Oncologist but she is very inexperienced and very tense. She came up with nothing which didn't surprise me. I very often have to go for a second opinion.

You may just need a way to deal with the mouth problems. Did they prescribe dexamethazone rinse? I used a mouth rinse by Prisyna for dry mouth prisyna.com/. They’re awaiting approval for a similar formulation for mouth sores.

Thanks. I was prescribed a home made mouth wash. Now my oncologist is ordering a prescribed one from the drug store. Still not sure I want to try this drug.

I had very little difficulty with mouth sores. Everyone is different!

Yes, I am on these drugs and the oral sores went away after using the mouth wash for about three days. I am tolerating the drugs and feel fine most days. Some days I have headaches and swelling on my lips and eyes, in the morning. Good luck.
