Understanding Pet scan results

Hi to all,

Great being able to share.

Had my 3rd pet scan yesterday and saw onc this morning.

Results are good but I have problems understanding them.

Suvmax on two bones around 1.6 = complete metabolic response on bones - I originally had 9 bone mets.

Suvmax on breast 5.5 = partial response.

Onc suggests I have the breast tumor removed as it could be diffusing.

She also told me that 70% of patients under ibrance get remission on mets = no more suvmax, clear pet scan. Therefore no need to feel its extraordinary.

I asked if it had gone from the bones. She answered NO. It never goes. It's just at bay and could come back anytime.

Even with my breast tumor out, no way can this be considered Ned.

This remission only lasts a median of 20 months and I've already done 8 months.

I was really happy yesterday but now I'm just thinking what's next....

Take care

Lucie

I also received the results of my PET scan yesterday. I was told one of the tumors in my neck has gone on the left side, and the right side has reduced. The nodes on my sternum have reduced as have the nodes in my lung. I was also told the "Cancer on my thigh" had gone. I didn't even know I had that! Anyway, I think I kind of feel the way you do.

I was so relieved to hear the info yesterday, but today I feel anxious and kind of down. It seems like good news and I know I should be, and I am, thankful, but it's not like "hey, you're cured!" There's still the cancer lurking in my body, the treatment, the fear and the unknown. And to be truthful, it's also difficult to relay those feelings to those around me as they are all delighted and relieved by the results. I don't think they get it.

Anyway, that's my rant. I guess we enjoy the day as best we can.

Much love and good vibes to you.
