I have received 5 radiation treatments to my throat and neck for MBC that has progressed to this area. I have had a very dry coughs for many months causing laryngitis, sinus, post nasal drip causing coughing .does anyone else have ant experiences with the radiation treatments and what I can expect from treatments and when it gets better . I am grateful for only 5 treatments but I am anxious to feel better soon.

Sorry about all the typos format was not letting me correct .

Any tips would graciously appreciated.

Hi Luann, I had radiation to my neck (C4) that caused swallowing issue but it got better after couple of months. Still have little cough and post nasal drip but it is tolerable! I hope yours get better soon

Thank you for sharing , I really appreciate it .

How long ago did you have the treatment ?

Did they figure out what is causing your post nasal drip / cough ?

Sorry for late response. I had it on December 2018. It took couple of months, my onc said May be it scar tissue because of radiation, however I am ok now!

I had radiation to the breast area, but found out the radiation went on the side of my throat as they had to radiate the area of the collar bone to get everything. I had a terrible sore throat on that side for about a month or so. Had radiation in April and May of this year. It does get better!!

So good to hear that you had successful radiation to neck. I suspect I will be in for this since I have large lesions in neck funny thing they are less bothersome because I am on Affinitor and am hoping they have been reduced but I have bone Mets all over and I am told the radiation will be when they start to become painful . So good to hear from all of your experiences helps to go through this journey with all this insight

I will keep you updated . I know a few members have mentioned that radiation to the neck& throat area was maybe a possible treatment for them .

I was terrified and hope if I share this part of my journey/ bump in the road it will help ease someone else anxiety slightly . And that others knowledge will prepare / ease my mine.

I had 1 treatment to my spine which was upper chest. I had severe nausea so make sure they give you a prescription for something before treatment. I had sores to my throat that lasted about a month. Extremely difficult to swallow as it burnt and felt like a large lump was there. This is not meant to scare you in any way just how it affected me. Good luck my dear ❤️Sarah
