My mum currently on ibrance and letrozole since April for small tumor in the lung and lymph node. I have already posted saying how devastated I am, beyond heartbroken. However she has had good weeks but the last few weeks terrible with shakes, difficulty swallowing and a sense of chest irritation. She has suffered from reflux and was wondering if anyone has experienced worsened reflux problems on this combination of medication. Thankyou x

It’s the Ibrance that causes the breathing problem and reflux. My doctor told me to take prescribed Omeprozole or Gaviscon. She may find this will help with her breathing. I’m on the same medication. I think you will find some,of the ladies on here get the shakes sometimes. I had an ECG last month due to breathing difficulties but was told it’s the mets in my lungs and rib cage plus acid reflux.
Hope this reassures you. Mum should be able to get a prescription med for it.
I agree with flowerfairies2. I have more of the trouble swallowing, it didn’t matter what I ate or drank or how slow I did it. I take omeprazole and it helps a lot.
My mets are in my lungs also. I take omeprazole twice a day and it takes care of acid reflux. Talk to your oncologist and see if it might be right for you. Best wishes. Blessings, Hannah
I have same issues, more so reflux than the breathing...I refuse to take OTC heartburn meds. You want stomach acid, & they just make it worse in the long run.
every morning I drink a "tonic" of apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, ginger juice, stevia & water. I haven't had an issue since starting this regime (knock on wood).
Hi sorry to hear your mum is suffering with reflux ..I am now on a 1 a day tablet for this and it's gone ..speak with your doctor hope she feels better soon
Thankyou once again ladies. Really really appreciate your comments. Mum has a ct scan in nov, may be brought forward as tightness and roughness she feels in her chest along with difficulty swallowing is getting her down. Fingers crossed there is no progression and it's just a side effect they can deal with xx
Hi Millie666, sorry to be late answering this. I was on Ibrance for about nine months with letrozole. I only developed GI problems and liver enzyme increase as the Ibrance evidently stopped working (not sure it really ever did). Then I was put on letrozole and fulvestrant. Markers kept going up and acid reflux, heart palpitations, liver enzymes, and fast pulse increased. GI doc has found nothing in the liver. She will do one more specialized CT scan to see if there is a blood clot in a vein there, and then she wants to scope my stomach. I'm off everything now to take chemo (Abraxane), so I'm just taking omeprazole and Tums. Don't like to take the meds, but even lemon juice burns right now. I hope your mother gets some relief. Does she have a triage nurse she can call at her oncology practice?
Thankyou for your reply. Shes due a call with the onc on tuesday after bloods tom. Shes suffering with chest tightness and stinging mouth, just needs some answers as reflux meds dont seem to help at all. X
