Stomach issues

Not sure if gastritis is a side effect of Ibrance. The last 3 days of this cycle I’m having awful pain in my mid stomach like spasm and cramping and feels like burning. This is the first time for this so not sure if this is due to the pill. Anyone have anything similar to this? If so what do you do for relief?

I’m getting Faslodex injections once a month. Thanks for replying.

Yes I have it a lot. My GP prescribed Omeprozole. It helps but I don’t like taking it to often. I take a Settlers most days. That helps.

Best wishes

What is a Settlers? I’m on Omeprozole now also and today it helped a bit.

I took Buscopan that I have for my IBS did the trick

It’s an antacid. You can buy them over the counter but not sure if you are in the UK. I had awful stomach pain again in the night but chewed a Setler and it went away. Hope you are feeling better.

Mmm this is all interesting to read. I was on omeprazole before I started taking letrozole and Ibrance because of ulcers and hiatus hernia diagnosed a couple of weeks before MBC. I'm trying to reduce omeprazole as I haven't been able to have follow up endoscopy. My gp said try going without as I can always start again, but reading this trail makes me wonder if it's maybe helping with the treatment. But I had also heard that long term use of omeprazole can have side effects. Complicated.

Yes I think it can. It destroys Vit D to an extent and that is what we need with the meds we take. I only take it occasionally. My old neighbours GP phoned him a while back to say there is evidence of it causing onset of Dementia and to only take it when needed. This may have been recognised during trials.

This is what I saw if taken for more than a year

bone fractures.

gut infections.

vitamin B12 deficiency – symptoms include feeling very tired, a sore and red tongue, mouth ulcers and pins and needles.

So could make letrozole and Ibrance symptoms worse. But I guess with this disease it's a balancing act, but would also depend on dosage. I have a friend on 20mg indefinitely for ruptured stomach ulcers. I've cut mine from 40 to 20 and am going to try cutting out completely.

I usually take Pepcid twice a day because my GI doc prescribed it for me. Maybe I should stick with that after I finish the 2 weeks of omeprozole.
