Scans, and a new life in the shape of a fur ball.

Hello to all.

Just had the results back from my full yearly scans. All stable! Phew!

And I won’t write too much on that subject as, when I tap the keys, my little fur ball thinks it’s a game.

I took possession of this little rascal two weeks ago today, and life as I knew it has changed. My daughter has a Moodle and I’ve been jealous of her little Billie for four years. She wanted to get another one. So I said, “How about I get it and when I go, you will take her for me?”

So that’s our deal. And we are all so happy.

I was given a dog when I was little and it was stripped away from me after about 4 weeks of adoration between the two of us. So I’ve never, ever had one of my own since.

This feels like my bucket list is being fulfilled in so many ways. If Covid would settle then the next part of my dream could begin. Travelling around Australia with my little girl Stevie, in our camper van together.

I’m doing a trial run this weekend with some friends. But as it stands we can’t go over any borders from Victoria, cause our Covid cases are on the rise. Second wave!

Sending love and gentle hugs from down under to all my friends all over the world. So lucky to have you all.

❤️🐾❤️🐾

First, a big congratulations on your stable scan results! And next, a bigger congratulations on owning such a cute and adorable pup. Look at those eyes😊 Those eyes will surely melt even the most hardened of hearts!

Awww he’s adorable....he’ll keep you busy and happy

Glad you’re scan good...you’ve had a lovely few days

It’s bad about Covid where you are...In UK there’s a hot spot in Leicester and they’re not opening pubs now in that city

We’ve just cancelled our family holiday to Madeira as it was in four weeks time and there are too many things that could go wrong and it won’t be stress free even when we get there...I’m quite upset as this could have been my last holiday with the family

They’re all planning ahead to what we could do in the future instead....how can I think if the future ?... they seem to forget I’m terminally ill....I could scream at them but I don’t say anything

Sorry didn’t mean to spoil your post...enjoy your little pup

Dear Barb

Firstly. I’m in Victoria. Australia.

Secondly. Please don’t apologise. Oh you have had such a hard time. And I get what you mean. Covid= not travelling= dreams unfurled= when will/can they happen again? And for you. I know you are at a point where you are so unsure of anything/everything. I’m so so so sorry that the family are not goin to the place you need them to go. Not holiday plans. But the truth of it. That hard truth for the, might mean they can’t go there

I was talking funeral music with a friend the other day. He totally changed the subject. He’s my closest friend. And music is our connection. He rang me up in tears later and apologised and said it was his inability to think of saying goodbye.

Maybe you should scream at them!

Please scream at them. Or tell them how this feels for you. You have no idea what this may open up.

Sending you soft hugs.

Anytime you wanna complain, you go for it sister.

❤️🌏🌍❤️

To all of you who have seen and replied...... yes.

Thank you for seeing what I see in her.

And.....yes.

It’s very hard to resist “those eyes” . And she is such a little angel. The most beautiful personality. I can’t believe my luck. And she’s also really calm and chilled. What luck.

Hi

Congratulations on being stable.

Your doggie is so adorable 😍

Jo xx

Love your story & congratulations on both 🥳💕🎶🌈!!!

That is the most adorable little thing ever.

What a wonderful companion for you.

Great results news.

I bought an old Holden Kingswood in 1990 with 2 friends and spent the happiest 6 months driving around Australia. Great memories.

I hope you get to take that camper van out.

Oh I’m glad you liked our country and had a good experience. It is pretty stunning here. Even if I can’t go interstate, there is still so much of Victoria I have not yet seen.

Congratulations on your good scan results 😊

The new arrival is gorgeous! There is nothing like a dog to help you be in the moment without worrying about the past or future.

I took on a Labrador pup last October and he is gorgeous and fitted in so well with my old lady Tess who is now 15 and the former baby of the family, Meg, who is now 8. All chocolate labs.

I didn’t think I had time to take on another but I am so glad I did. They teach us so much about life, despite the mess 😊

Just had another look and your new baby looks just like Henry’s best friend who is an adorable cocker poo with endless energy and very refined. Henry is considered a bad influence by her owners as he taught her the joy of rolling in sheep muck and swimming in muddy water 😆

Did you tell us the name???

Timtam56 profile image

Yes. Her name is Stevie. After Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac.

Great news and I’m celebrating also. Love your little fur ball. My bucket list has a visit to my Son and family in Brisbane. I haven’t seen them in 10 years. It’s a long flight from the UK but if I can make it I will. Best wishes

Timtam56 profile image
Timtam56 in reply to

I hope you do make it. That WOULD be a big flight! Wouldn’t it.

in reply toTimtam56

Certainly would but I know it would be worth it. Last time we changed flights in Hong Kong with an hour wait then straight on to Brisbane. It was great. We left the UK at 11.00 a.m. and got to Brisbane late afternoon so the sleep pattern worked out well. I live in hope.

Congrats on your scans. I can imagine that must feel so good!! What a gorgeous pooch! We were working on getting my 11 year old a hypoallergenic puppy but then I got diagnosed and I was told that pets can cause infection so not to introduce a new animal into the house. So sad because he can really use the companionship and secretly I want the dog just as much LOL. We only have two tortoises. No dogs or cats but really really want that dog for him. Anybody know about the chances of contracting infections from pets as it relates to having MBC? I hope I can still get him a dog at some point.

Timtam56 profile image
Timtam56 in reply toDancer1000

Just do it! Anything can cause infection dancer1000. But the joy you and your family and others would get, would worth be more than the risk of infection.

Julie2233 profile image
Julie2233 in reply toDancer1000

I’m with TimTam. I have 3 dogs and have never caught anything from them. Though I don’t allow them upstairs or let them lick me. For house training I always used gloves and disinfectant. For me the benefits of my dogs far outweighs the risks. But saying that it’s not something to take in lightly, if you get a puppy think about the amount of work and mess that you would have with a baby.

My son had problems socialising due to dyspraxia and growing up with dogs was a godsend for him. He now lives abroad and FaceTimes to talk to the dogs not me!

Congrats on the scan! Woohoo! And your pup is beyond adorable. Love how you've arranged for her care in the future. You're a good mom. We're in our second wave, too (although I'm not sure we ever got past the first one). Texas is sinking fast - so many people here don't want to comply with the mask order or social distancing. So...more at home time for us with less than stellar immune systems. Sigh. Take care and be safe.

Timtam56 profile image
Timtam56 in reply toAquadog

People are strange with their belief that they are immune!

Timtam56 profile image
Timtam56 in reply toTimtam56

So many families here have been mixing with each other and also refusing getting tested for covid 19. And now it's spreading like crazy. They think they are not going to get it or pass it on. But yes, we just need to keep safe. As they don't think of people like us or the elderly do they?

Dearest Chris,

So happy for both you and little Stevie! You are both so blessed!!

I've got a couple of little rescue dogs who are a major part of my life. One of them is in surgery as I write this, after having torn the ACL in his right hind leg a week ago (yes, even poochies can blow out a knee!) I can't wait for him to heal (surgeon says eight weeks out) and enjoy the companionship of my sweet little guy.

You are right that your life has changed forever but in such a GREAT WAY!!

Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy!

Thanks. Yes. Even laying in my little campervan, it's pouring here, soothing rain falling on the roof of the van, and she's sound asleep in my arms. Both of us wrapped in out live blanket. Ooooooooo. Little bubba.

I love her so much.❤️
