Hi Tracey,
Are you concerned about seeing your oncologist in person? Perhaps you can call and see if your appointment can be changed to a phone consultation if you would prefer that. I’m seeing my oncologist in person on the 15th, unless I hear differently and it’s changed to a phone consultation. When I spoke to one of my oncology nurses recently I told her I would prefer to go to hospital for my appointment.

Hi Sophie, not concerned as I can go back way into hospital, just easier on phone as have to take 2 buses there and 2 back and can do everything on phone, maybe this shielding has made me lazy lol good luck with your appt
Oh, OK. I see what you mean! If it's more convenient for you to speak to your oncologist over the phone, then I would opt for that. Taking two buses there and back sounds like a pain. I don't know what it's like where you are, but bus services have been cut here. If my dad wants to take the bus to get to hospital he has to take two as well. The first one drops him off in the town, and then he takes another one that takes him to the main entrance of the hospital. I just prefer the idea of seeing my oncologist in person, but that's just me. Thanks for the well wishes for my upcoming appointment. I haven't seen my oncologist since February. I asked if I could leave it for four months, rather than three. I'm glad she agreed, as I'm sure any appointment made in May would have been cancelled.

My buses are every hour now but due to social distancing rules they are running at reduced capacity so you might not be able to get on one
Hi Tracey. My CT scan is 24th June, then I supposed to have an injection of Denosumab 3 hours later in the same hospital. I’m not having the jab as I don’t want to hang around the hospital for 3 hours approx. Then I was supposed to see my Oncologist 1st July and that has changed to a phone call now. I’m also at hospital 23/24th July to collect meds and have blood taken. Personally I would rather have a face to face chat with my Oncologist as there’s always things I forget to ask over the phone that are not questions on my list. Trying to get through to the hospital other than the agreed appointment time is impossible right now. I can walk to my hospital although public transport is better. I don’t want to go on the bus. It’s a 4 mile walk there and back but I would rather that. Hope you get it sorted out.
Take care
Cheryl
I haven't had denusumab since end of march due to have it end of this month, have felt much better without it every month, dont get pain in my shoulder or in my back, last time I had telephone consultation I wrote questions down before phone call. At the moment buses are every hour but they have reduced capacity due to 2 metre rule so you could wait for one then you might not get on it and then it's another hour for next one that you might not get on either so may ask for telephone consultation. Good luck with your scan and appointment
Wow. Do you live in UK? I live in NY and we get the CT results the next day. Though I wait until my next appt. I don't want the onco calling me at home unless I have a question to ask her.
Yes I live in uk in the US they seem more efficient
Hi Tracey, I went to hospital this time too - last Thursday. I did have a telephone consultation with the Onc the Thursday before but she messed everything up - last time we spoke she told me I didn't need a blood test for that appointment then when she rang me, told me off for not having bloods done!! She's so exasperating! Anyway, ended up my meds being delayed for a week but to be honest, I wasn't too bothered about that because I was struggling with a very sore mouth and ulcers so it helped with that. My Denosumab injections were reinstated after 3 months so last week I went for bloods and then my breast care nurse saw me and administered the bone treatment injection. She had my meds ready for me too to save me going to the pharmacy. I also had my CT progress scan reinstated having been previously cancelled so that was on Thursday too and the same breast care nurse told me she'd look out for the results and get them to me soon as she could. True to her word, she phoned me yesterday!!! Much more efficient than my scatty Onc!!
Sorry, banging on a bit there but anyway, everything's stable so all good.
no doubt I'll be forced to see the Onc every 3 months but whoever I see, won't be able to do telephone as I'll need the injection. Agree though, the telephone consults were quicker and easier :).
Take care xx Josie xx
Congratulations on your stable scan, I'm going for a scan on sat, I think I have a cold coming on xx
Thank you, I'm a lot better today thanks
