I did my control pet scan. Cycle # 19 ibrance (stop ibrance for 6 weeks for coronavirus prevention) There is no evidence of activity in any cells. Thank God for that. The only new thing is that you can see a little stone in my gallbladder that wasn't there before. Happy weekend from Houston Lots of rain around here

hi 👋. Because when the coronavirus started in March I had low white blood cells and neutrophils 0.8. And the doctor wanted me to get up and I was just at the end of the cycle. Just yesterday the doctor told me that none of her cancer patients had coronaviruses to date. and she works at the Cancer Center
of the Houston Medical District. Stopping my start of the Ibrance it was possible to raise the values quite a lot. (It is to mention that I felt super good those last 4 weeks. No discomfort) now again side effects already known to all. But never backwards. Positive mind If you can, If you can 😘😍
You are lucky to have had that reprieve from the Ibrance. I think you have a wonderful, caring doctor. He or she wanted you to be strong so I think letting you have a rest period to bringup your blood was a wise thing. I appreciate you sharing this with us. I will ask my doctor if a rest period would benefit me. Thank you. Stay safe. Hugs Marlene
So happy for you ! Tonight I finished my 30th cycle Ibrance , and like you I am fortunate to have no evidence of active disease . Long may it continue !😀x
I carry on taking my meds ( Ibrance and Letrozole) as at stage 4 there is no knowing if there are any microscopic cancer cells still lurking anywhere . I have had 4 ct scans in 2 years that have shown no evidence of active disease ,but until the researchers find a cure for stage 4 , I will continue taking these drugs , which are currently doing the job well . However I am a realist and know that at some stage these meds will stop working and I will then put my trust in my onc to find alternative meds / treatment . Hope you continue to do well on this treatment . x
Thank you Teddielottie for sharing with me. I am so happy for you.
I just bought a book called "Eat to Beat Disease" by Dr. William Li. I am hoping to learn things from his knowledge to help me beat this cancer. Some say it can't be beat but I think you are beating it. Whatever you are doing - keep doing it.
I just heard from my oncologist the one I see monthly and my markers are up to 42. They went down to 4 so now they are climbing and it is scaring me but I am encouraged by the fact that you are not having any active disease. And you have been taking the same Ibrance and Letrozole combination that I am taking. It has only been one year so I will just keep taking them and pray to get to the point when no disease is visible I am unfortunately hooked on sugars which are bad. So now I am trying to bring these cravings under control. I think that is why my markers went up - too much sugar. Other than that I think my diet is good.
I just started reading Dr. Li's book but so far I am enjoying it. He says beer is good for helping to kill cancer. I am not a normal drinker but maybe I will now be adding beer to my diet.
Yes, I will ask my doctor if I can drink beer although my Onc. doesn't seem to know much about nutrition so I don't know if anything she says will be helpful. But I do think that the alcohol in the beer might not be good. But if I had the occasional beer it might be okay. Thank you for making me aware that I should look into this more closely before I take up beer drinking. Take care and stay safe. Hugs Marlene
I am not doing anything different , just taking traditional meds ( Ibrance / Letrozole ) .I eat a fairly balanced diet ... but I don’t follow any plan nor take lots of supplements . (the exception being the adcal calcium with vit D tablet prescribed by my onc for my bones and a vegetarian glucosomine I take to prevent stiff joints from the Letrozole .)
I too have a sweet tooth , so I have a daily treat of cake or ice cream or dark chocolate .I have been vegetarian for well over 35 years but I do eat some dairy each day ( milk , yogurt , cheese ) .My breakfast is always porridge with a good portion of blueberries and I love bananas , nuts , peanut butter , avocado and all fruit / veg.
We have just bought a Ninja blender during lockdown so plan to experiment more with fruit and veg and healthy drinks ... my husband made great humous with it yesterday and we had veg sticks with the dip , sat out in the lovely weather we’re getting here . I’ve never been a big drinker , but enjoyed a pina colada cocktail , and we always have alcohol free red wine in too these days . I have never liked the taste of beer !!
I am just heading out for my daily cycle on my e- bike which I purchased just before lockdown and am loving getting out in nature ( and it is helping with the stiff joints too !) . Take care and let us know if there are any good tips in the book you are reading on nutrition . x
Thank you for sharing this nutritional information Teddielottie. It is very inspirational. I have been trying hard to eliminate sugar but I think I will keep dark chocolate in the diet. I am enjoying my book but still haven't read very far. One thing about this book is that Dr. Li has started it out with lots of science but he has made it extremely understandable. When I read I lightly underline some of the important points and then scan back so that I can soak up the knowledge. Some of the research into how nutrition actually works in the body is quite new. Some things are just common sense but actually understanding what is going on is likely extremely valuable to ladies like us fighting metastatic breast cancer. The science is the kind of information that will likely help me make good cancer fighting food choices. He does list 100 beneficial foods and he said from that list make yourself a list of what you like to eat and then include it in your diet. Chocolate is on that list so I am very happy about that. Apparently some of the latest drugs that we all are taking are related to the research he and his teams have been discovering. I think Ibrance is one of those drugs related to angiogenesis. It works (or so I am told) to cut off the blood suppy to the cancer tumors. It is an antiangiogenesis drug. The angiogenesis build blood vessels in the body to repair damaged tissues etc. but we don't want to send blood suppy to the tumors. At least this is the connection I have made so far. So this book is just so interesting.
Hi, when you use the abbrevation NED what does it stand for. Sorry but I am still quite ignorant about my condition. I think many of you have doctors that tell you more about your condition. My doctor doesn't say much. So thank you for sharing. Stay safe. Hugs Marlene
Thank you so much Sandra for your very in depth explanation. I hope I get to that point where I can describe myself as NED. Wow. I think that is wonderful. I wish you the best for a complete recovery from cancer. Hugs Marlene
