This is just a very small amount of squashes we grew 2019 on our allotment. We finished up with enough produce to feed an army. A lot went to a Charity run cafe/diner and neighbours. This interest takes me to another place when I am there. The plot faces the River Mersey and Welsh Mountains. I forget what I have and the mind is lifted. I can’t do as much as I did but my hubby is there working away. It’s pleasure with an edible reward at the end. The photo was taken on our balcony. Have a good weekend everyone. I hope we can have positive thoughts and have time to reflect on the good days. Best wishes

Takes away my pain. Makes me smile
Wow they look lovely and lovely of you to help other people, it's nice when you can forget about the cancer and just feel normal. I was playing table tennis with my son yesterday could feel a tiny bit tight in my chest but breathing was ok, so that was good, needed sit down though, best wishes to you x
Well done playing a bit of sport with your son. It’s so good for our wellbeing. My chest feels tight today and I know I couldn’t walk up a steep hill right now. Just the way things are. I’ve told my husband to set up the wii machine again. I tried to jog on the spot this morning. Counted to 20 and my hip gave me jip. So that was that. At least with the wii machine we have something to watch and take our minds off the hurt a little. Mind you, it will need a good dusting down. I haven’t used it since 2017. It will tell me I’ve put on weight etc etc. Oh yes, it’s clever like that. We haven’t got sunshine here in Liverpool but it’s bright. Not sure we will get the sunshine tomorrow. It’s upsetting we can’t be free enough to do the outdoor things we like. Best wishes.Cheryl
Hi cheryl I live in norfolk it's quite nice here sunny although cool supposed to be better tommorrow, not too bad as its flat, I used to jog on Wii, bet I couldn't do it now, I am trying to get back to karate but dont think I will manage that. You did well jogging while you counted to 20. All the best x
We lived in Hatfield Peverel near Chelmsford for 15 years then moved to Cornwall for 8 years but there wasn’t enough to do. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2013 and after that thought there was more to life. So we moved to Liverpool to be near family in 2016. We are close to the City Centre, 20minutes from the beach, 2 hours from the Lake District and close to all public services. Best of both worlds and suits us as we are retired (still young though ha ha). Is Roy’s still open? Used to love it around that area.
Hi Cheryl,
Your squashes look amazing! It's obvious that your hard work has paid off. I spent a bit of time in my garden this afternoon digging up some weeds and making a start on preparing my little vegetable patch. Hopefully I can get some seeds in the ground soon. I'm not sure what to grow yet. I normally grow strawberries, potatoes and mint. My mint has started to put in an appearance.
Sophie
Go for carrots and onions as well. Easy to grow if you can get the seeds. Be careful with mint. It runs everywhere. Enjoy the dry weather x
The funny thing is I have tried to grow carrots and onions in the past and they didn't do so well. Maybe I should try again. My husband says the same about mint. I actually don't mind if it takes over! I love mint! 😊
Mint everything then, especially Mojito. 😀
😂😂😂
Oh, wow, that's so beautiful! I've recently gotten it into my mind that I want to grow things (must be related to the psychology of the pandemic) but, living in "the city" (Dallas, where alot of the city is actually more like dense suburbs), we really don't have the yard for it, so herbs in pots is about the best I can do. Mint included!
Thanks for sharing....it's a beautiful picture!
Still a therapeutic thing to do. Nothing nicer than fresh mint.
Maybe you could paint it !? 😂 x
Can’t believe you have snow. Somehow I wish we had rain then folks wouldn’t be out and ignoring the self distancing rule. Seems we have good weather all next week as well. Some things are sent to try us. Have a good weekend. Hope the snow clears soon. Best wishes
Very very nice, awesome!
Thanks for the lovely photo. Yummy
Wow what a bounty!!! I live in the USA and getting the garden ready to plant. Just me so it will be small. Probably tomatoes, peppers, squash and eggplant.
You are right that it’s very therapeutic.
You have inspired me. Thanks
That’s great. Seeing everything grow is so satisfying and you can say “I grew that”. Ha ha, homegrown is best. Good luck
Just love this pic ... reminds me of an artist’s still life painting ! So much colour and so cheerful ! x
Beautiful squash! I live in NYC (Manhattan) and I am fortunate enough to have a backyard. It has been my lifesaver to get some air without worrying about getting too close to someone else. Right the lockdown I was getting ready to start an organic raised bed garden. I purchased a bunch of organic seeds. Want to plant squash, cucumber, onions, garlic, tomatoes, strawberries, blueberries, collards. My husband put one raised bed up and we had 4 more to go. Now I am worried about Home Depot not being able to deliver the rest of the stuff. They have organic seed starter soil. But boy to fill up those raised beds its going be pretty expensive. I calculated 11 bags for one bed which ends up costing around $275!! I wonder if there is a more cost effective way to do this.
Yes it is expensive to fill the beds. We had a huge well rotted compost heap we inherited and mixed that soil with well rotted horse manure. Honestly the flavour of our fruit and veg last year was worth the effort. Totally organic and all weeds all hand dug out. Will post some photos if we are allowed to go out in the future weeks.
I am such a city girl that I have to go slow with this LOL. I tried my hand at it years ago and produced tons of cucumbers and snap peas. I need to invest in a composting but I'm not there yet!
Keep at it. It’s so rewarding.
Looks yummy. Blessings Hannah
Beautiful bounty. Lovely to think of the things we do, and can, have.
Beautiful picture. I hope you have a safe and lovely weekend also.
Beautiful harvest.
Ladies you are so kind with your words. We all need a boost world wide right now. Take care
Beautiful, therapeutic, helpful, and highly productive. Thank you for sharing! ❤️🙏❤️🌷😎🌈
