Mbc and epilepsy
Hi Kiera,
I don't have an experience with epilepsy but I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am that you have to deal with seizures and inability to drive on top of the MBC.
Your question made me curious, so I googled /read a bit. I have no idea if this makes ANY sense at all, in part because I have difficulty reading densely scientific material but maybe this is a tree you can bark up? Again, it likely makes NO sense, but here goes.
I found articles about "Kainate-induced epilepsy" and the "kainate acid model of temporal lobe epilepsy". If you can't find similar let me know and I'll re-find.
Here's an NIH article about the topic, broadly.
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
The word Kainate sounded similar to Kinase (as in Kinase inhibitors, e.g. Ibrance and its cousins) ** This is evidence of my "humanities" vs. "scientific" approach!
Then I went looking for a connection between the word kinase and the word kainate (again, note the lack of depth in my comprehension...). I found this, as an example:
sciencedirect.com/science/a...
Or this might better show a connection...the article is entitled "Regulation of kainate receptors by protein kinase C and metabotropic glutamate receptors"; Here's a link:
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
I have no idea if these two things are actually connected...but maybe you can research and/or make some inquiries into a possible connection between KI's and kainate-induced epilepsy?
I do hope you are able to find a solution...
Best wishes,
Lynn
Thanks Lynn will check it out neurologist gave me extra tablets for epilepsy and haven't had anymore seizures since, I think it was last march. I think would rather be stable with cancer than stop it for epilepsy
Oh no thats not great for you. I havent got epilepsy but my daughter and son do, my daughter has the full grand mal (tonic clonic)and my son has night seizures. Very scary condition without the MBC so my heart goes out to you coping with both. I hope the medics find a good solution for you. Best wishes. X
