Low white cell count and exercise

I am on Letrozole and 100mg of Ibrance. The last days of Ibrance my cell counts and neutrophils are very low. Should I avoid exercise?
Hi Kdiet!
I don't think I've heard/read anything about avoiding exercise w/ low counts. I think the key thing is to take precautions against illness/infections so maybe like wipe down handles of any shared equipment you might use? Aside from that, the exercise might actually help strengthen your immune system...I'd go for it!
My doctor says to take a brisk walk before my bloodwork when neutrophils are low—exercise can help bring them up a point or two.
My understanding is that if you’re up for it, exercise is very important in general.
Try increasing protein intake and walking.
Unless you find yourself so fatigued that you would have to force yourself, I would definitely not avoid exercise - it's so good for us on so many levels.
If you feel up to it, exercise! I find it helps me enormously with life balance! And I have not gotten sick even in a yoga class where a lot of people are sniffling and coughing.
Keep exercising! I teach fitness. Exercise is what keeps our engines running and healthy. It’s absolutely vital for good health. Key points are: exercise as usual , but slow down if you’re feeling more tired than usual, or do shorter bouts, wipe down equipment, make sure you have any skin cuts covered. Wash your hands after handling equipment. Rest when your body speaks to you to rest. If you’re so tired that a walk seems like too much try sitting/lying on the couch and exercising your arms or simply do stretches. Every little bit counts. Enjoy! Exercise is a great mood booster too when you get those endorphins going, and don’t we all need a little bit of that : )
Hi,
That sounds like very good advice. I agree that exercise is vital for good health. I always feel good after a workout. My mood instantly improves and I feel like I can take on anything.

Hi,
Have you been advised by your oncologist to avoid exercise if your neutrophils are low? If not I would double check just to be sure and carry on exercising.
Sophie
I had struggled with Letrozole and Ibrance, once the dr changed up Letrozole for Fasoldex (spelling ?). I am doing great.
The only thing to be careful of is germs when your neutrophils are low. If you feel up to exercising then do it.
