New Research from Johns Hopkins
Very interesting article! Brings hope for all of us! Thank you for sharing!
Great article. We are all living for a cure. We need more funds going to metastatic BC.
I agree. 30% is an improvement over the 7% national average, but I think at this point, awareness and screening is well known and it's time to devote way more money for a cure.
I have said this since I was first diagnosed in 2012 with primary and am more adamant since being diagnosed as metastatic. The amount spent telling people to get mammograms and self check is crazy for something that should be rote. Also, if we cut the number of deaths, we would cut the fear about getting tested in the first place!
I hear you. The problem is that pink ribbons have become big business. And telling people the true facts about metastatic disease is not a money maker. So, the executives running the walks, parties, etc. Dont want to endanger their livelihoods by spreading very bad, hard news. With that, we don't see much money going towards research for a cure. Right now, my big pet peeve is a commercial for Ibrance showing a walk for MBC. Where are those walks? I'd like to see just one.
I was first diagnosed in Oct 2012. It was some version of hell to have people talking about pink and all that goes with it for a month when I had done EVERYTHING like that already...and in fact in my case I had felt a lump, told two doctors, had it ultrasounded and mammo-ed and was told it was nothing for TWO years. Reality is when the doctors say they think it is nothing, and nothing shows up on tests, I am sure 99% of women will not lobby to see a breast surgeon. I made my sons three promises...1) they would never have to wear pink, 2) I would never ask them to march, as I was not marching and 3) I was not going to die from this. Sure now it's back, but I am still sticking with 1 and 2...and I am fighting with all guns for number 3.
Thanks for sharing this news. I’m glad they are working on something new!
Thank you for sharing. Hope for better days ahead of all us!

So promising. Anything that brings hope is appreciated. Thank you for posting.
Jeez cancer is so complicated. The more I read, the more I realize that!!!
Isn't that the truth. When I realized that a big problem with cancer is that it's our cells that are killing us, not foreign invaders it hit me. To kill cancer cells could mean to kill our good cells because they come from the same place, just a mutation or several different. That would complicate things...
