I am 2 weeks in and the side effects have started. I am getting mouth sores, my face is breaking out and will turn beet red and extremely dry. I bought cream at the center that I used during radiation. I have the most horrible taste in my mouth because of the mouthwash. The fatigue is a bit more too. Nausea and vomiting hasn't been an issue yet. Oncologist said yesterday the side effects last for about 8 weeks and as my body adjusts so do the effects. Not liking this treatment so far.
Happy Saturday

I sound like a broken record, but drinking green juice (for me a juice blend of kale, pineapple, cucumber, lemon, but you can come up with your own concoction or find other suggestions on the internet) made a big difference during chemo and going forward. I've used a lot of creams with varying success and find lanolin one of the most soothing, as long as you aren't allergic to it (it's from sheep wool). Sorry you have to go thru this but hoping it will bring you great scans.
I had exactly the same during first 4 weeks. Oncologist prescribed gelclaire for ulcers and it really helped. I used corsodol twice a day and then rinsed with gelclaire. It’s a gel that coats the ulcers and makes it less painful to eat and drink. I also rinsed with warm salt water which was soothing.
Doctor suggested hydrocortisone once a day for extremely dry skin on my face and that reduced the redness, and antibiotic gel for the spots! Spots and grey hair is not a good look!!
Body pain went and symptoms virtually went when I changed brand of aromasin. Though I now have cold sores! So taking acicolvir for those.
On the positive side my hair which was receding is coming back and for the first time in 4 years my appetite is back to normal. I am no longer thinking about food 24hrs a day and have lost nearly a stone in 2 months. My bmi is nearly back in the normal range.
If you do start getting nausea I find that eating at lunch time and taking an anti nausea pill immediately after stops it from starting.
I am a lot more fatigued on this treatment than I was previously and made the mistake of ignoring my body last weekend. I did too much and have paid for it this week!
My friends came up from London for 3 days. They were very considerate and stayed in a local hotel but just going out and about walking with them for the 3 days completely wore me out, and we didn’t even have our usual late nights, I was home for 9pm!
They went home Saturday night, Sunday I just sat on the sofa and stared at the wall, I didn’t even have the energy to watch tv! I felt better on Monday so went to work. I now know I shouldn’t have.
Every new treatment is a learning curve. I think I need to be careful with the fatigue with this one, the weight loss probably isn’t helping either!
