Low neutrophils

I am on Ibrance. Went from 125mg to 100mg. My neutrophils are still low at .75. I want to go back to work with public and have my reconstruction. Is it even possible to have my reconstruction surgery and work full time with public If my neutrophils stay low?

Hi Sunny -

I'm with girlsptz on this...In normal life, even with the public, low neutrophils are probably not an issue. With surgery, likely different scenario. I've had surgery during Ibrance treatment/low neutrophil, and scheduled it during my best week, i.e. first week after break week. Maybe do labs during this week to see how high the neutrophil counts go...might be high enough, and - side note - I did reconstruction several years ago, and have been pleased as punch with the results! :) Cant wait to wear my swimsuit on vacation next week! :)

Be well,

Lynn

Like Lynn, I too had surgery while on Ibrance treatment , but was told by my onc that my breast surgeon would want my neutrophils above 2 to operate . I was stable at the time and my bloods were good . I had a breast reduction on my left non -affected side (as a day op ) to match my much smaller implant on my right side which I had done at the same time as my right mastectomy / right axillary clearance the year before (before Ibrance and before my Mets were discovered) . I had it done on my week off Ibrance , then had a week of antibiotics post op and had to do daily injections to boost my wbc for 5 days post op to reduce any risk of infection .

As regards going out in public ,I would recommend getting a flu jab as soon as the season starts ( I had flu jabs in last 2 winters and will have another shortly at my doctor’s ) . I have had a couple of colds in last 2 winters but no flu / fevers .

Hoping your wbc /neutrophils soon improve ! Take care x

I am having breast reconstruction in October and the doctor dont want to stop the ibrance but I have not feeling well this week (started my 2nd month w Ibrance) so I going to tell her that I think we need to stop ibrance at least 2 weeks before the surgery bc I dont want any issues during my surgery. I dont want any delays either. I have been waiting too long for this removal and replace for small implants. And the end of this pain!
