Does anyone have some tips for me please? I made my first juice yesterday to try and get more fruit down me - strawberries and almond milk - but truthfully it was rank lol. I love strawberries and use unsweetened almond milk on cereal which i really enjoy but maybe the sweetened version would be best for this purpose? I need to get more fruit n veg into my diet as Im finding I have to force myself to eat sometimes. Fatigue means I cba to make stuff and end up eating a couple of biscuits. Im also trying to cut out as much refined sugar as I can so this really isnt helping. Any hints tips or advice would be appreciated.

I juice a stalk of celery and an orange every morning and it’s helped my energy and also my stomach issues. It’s supposed to be ver good for detoxing.
If sweet is more your thing you could try pineapple and coconut milk smoothie then you throw some spinach in (you’ll never taste it) my daughter made it for me a couple of times and it was like a pina colado milkshake. Use a blender for smoothie not juicer.
Oo I like the sound of the pina colada concoction lol. Do you add any liquid or is it literally just the juice from the fruits? I"m blending as I dont have a juicer or smoothie maker.

If u do a smoothie that have only berries and almond u can use stevia alcohol free. I buy it on Amazon. It took me time to get used to stevia but now I am okay make my coffee with this. And it does not cause the damage than regular does.
Well, ive just had the orange and celery juice. Im amazed at how tasty it is. Ive added some chia seeds for extra oomph. Never ever in a million years would I have thought I could enjoy this sort of thing but it is really refreshing. Thankyou so much. Didnt get round to peeling/chopping the pineapple yesterday but thats next on my list. X
I’ve juicing for past six months and it definitely makes a difference to energy and joint pain. Interestingly I’m on holiday at the moment so didn’t juice for a few days and noticed my joint pain for first time in months. I use lots of ginger in all my juices as it’s great anti inflammatory and lemon too , otherwise any fruits or veggies that are in special in the supermarket! Also I drink with a straw as your right it can be powerful, also helps teeth doing it that way!
My personal experience: I drink Smoothie King juices Without sugar or just very little sugar. I take the versions of "immune builder" and my values improve every day. I take 3 juices a week I have tried to reduce carbohydrates to the minimum (I have not eliminated them), I have increased my consumption of eggs and other proteins. Happy day 🎀❤️
Maybe I’m not one of the norm but if you juice I believe u miss out on the fibre in the fruit and get more concentrated sugar personally I take a vitamin c tablet in the morning and eat little and often including good veg and berries. Have a little of what u fancy x
Hi, when I say juice, I really mean blending. That way I'm still getting all the fibre and nutrients. I had to google the difference between blending and juicing though lol because I'm new to it all. There are positives for both but you're right, we do need to be aware of the sugar content so from what I can gather, it's better to juice/blend veges - particularly greens or at least combine them. This morning I blended an orange, a stick of celery - which I would never previously have eaten - and some spinach. The trouble with me is I don't really eat that much fruit - I do love veg but at the moment, I get quite tired and sometimes cba to make it - not fond of it raw - so this is just a way of getting it into me. . I take vitamin c and until i started it was falling asleep in the evening, but now feel full of life I dont know it will help you but certainly think it has me. I must admit I am new to this so looking at my diet all the time. For me I think I will just carry on eating it rather than juice as I don’t find it enjoyable to drink, I have too many tablets to force down without doing that. I wish you well with whatever you decide, hopefully your fatigue will cease and you will feel better. Live your life to the full and stay happy xx

Blending and juicing are a great way to get some goodness into your system. If you are using your blender, then the fibre will stay intact, rather than be separated by the juicing process. I don't like to waste ingredients, so I will turn the pulp into a vegetable soup or something else. If you are using a strong spice, such as fresh ginger, make sure you add the right amount. I added a large piece of ginger and I found it made my juice too bitter. But perhaps you like it that way. After all, it's all down to personal preference.
I have a juicer and a blender, but I must admit I tend to use my blender more often. When I juice, I usually use kale, cucumber, celery, an apple (usually a green apple such as a Granny Smith) and other ingredients I might have on hand. I have been reading that it's best to use more green vegetables than fruit, otherwise there will be too much sugar. With my blender, I am more creative. I picked up a few recipes from Kris Carr's cookbooks and web site.
One is so simple: a banana soft serve ice cream. You just freeze three bananas and when you are ready to make the ice cream you just blend them until they reach the right consistency for you. Or if I want a milkshake, I will add unsweetened almond milk and maybe a handful of blueberries or other fruit I have. If I want a more interesting ice cream then I add frozen bananas, a couple of tablespoons of raw organic cacao powder, almond butter (you can buy it from health food shops, Aldi and lots of other places), and unsweetened almond milk. If you find it's too runny, then just refreeze it for a while until you are ready to eat it. My husband tried it recently and he liked it. He's normally not keen on trying my concoctions, as they are so different to what he is used to!
I have also been making liver cleanse green juices lately. My husband's cousin shared the recipe with me. It's basically a whole cucumber, two whole lemons (just peel them, take out the seeds and chop them up), some filtered water and a handful of fresh parsley. I use curly parsley or flat leaf. I have always been a huge lemon fan, but if you find this too lemony, you might want to add less lemon or more water.
I hope you are able to flex your juicing and blending muscles and come up with some flavour combinations that you like. I love all the different varieties and ideas out there! I have saved a lot of Kris Carr's recipes in a file and like to refer to those or come up with my own.
I think she's great too, Faith! What I like about Kris is her zest and zeal for life (I feel the same way!) and how she has made so many positive changes to her life since she was diagnosed with metastatic cancer. She has been living with cancer for many years, which is really inspiring and shows us that we have hope of achieving the same!
Yes and she turned a negative sort of into a positive as she has made taking care of herself and sharing her experiences into a career where she has a lot of followers. I hope she always does well. She has a great spirit. Faith
Oh dear! Sorry to hear that. Was the juice a bit bitter? You might want to cut back a bit on the kale and add some other ingredients you like to sweeten it up a bit. Instead of the apple juice, you might find it better to add a whole apple or maybe some pineapple. It is a bit of trial and error with some recipes. But if you don't like the taste I wouldn't just put up with it, otherwise you won't want to eat it however healthy it is!
I think it was the smell as much as anything. I did manage to drink it but I really couldn't make myself have it every day. The pineapple could work and maybe a bit less Kale because it is quite a strong flavour isn't it. It's definitely trial and error. I like the fruity ones but I am struggling a bit with the vege ones I have to admit. I'm trying to be good as my neutrophils are down to 1.2 and I'm trying everything I can to give myself a boost. Next bloods are tomorrow with results Thursday so fingers crossed. I want to stay on Ibrance 125 for as long as I can becuase other than that (and a sore nose and being a bit tired) I'm doing ok.
My friend just gave me an amazing little blender. The container you put the ingredients in becomes the container you drink out of. It is so much easier to wash then the original blender I was using. It is a clever gadget this new one. You can see them on Amazon. Makes it super simple to get our greens. Also sometimes frozen veggies on sale are a good option too and then they are cold.
I juice regularly and I know it helps. I have also learned a few things that may be helpful. My current concoction is carrots (for bladder health and a good base for the juice), ginger (very good for cancer, it causes cancer cells to commit suicide and then they eat each other), oranges (for taste and other benefits). These I put through a centrifugal juicer. I was trying to get blueberries and parsley in it but in the centrifugal juicer it just throws them out with the pulp. So I started doing those in a smoothie type juicer and then mixing the two juices together. Not only does this work for the things I am wanting to see results with but I actually find myself craving the juice.
Juicing is just so awesome. When another ailment or side effect comes along I just have to look up what is good for that and then add that to my juice.
Sounds good. Ill give that a whirl too. I added a carrot to this morning but was a bit chewy . I had blended though so maybe some things are better for juicing v blending. Its all trial n error. Thanks for the advice x
The best purchase I have ever made was for a vitamix machine. I make all my drinks with it, plus soups, etc.
I put a mixture of green vegs, always organic, avacados, fresh basil, fresh mint, water, ice and you could put some stevia if you want. Sometimes I put some homemade fresh apple cider in there. I LOVE my green drink every morning.
Fruit, go crazy but I would not put a milk in there, even if almond. Do it with water and if you add a banana or some kefir in there, it would be better inmy opinion.
Greetings: Sister/warrior. I use 1 half of a blackened banana, 2 scoops of ( berry) flavored 42 vegys/fruits powder, 2 scoops of vanilla pea protein powder, and 1 scoop unsweetened cranberry juice, 2 scoops of dried oatmeal, 1 scoop of unsweetened cranberry juice, and a half lemon/lime squeezed in. I also add 2 pinches of salt since I run low blood pressure. Add alkaline water in the blender ( first,) before the dry ingredients, making it thicker or thinner for your preference. If you like it sweeter add a couple of Stevia drops. This smoothie is made from clean products from God' green earth. It is delicious, and makes 2 servings, about 20-25 ounces. I drink half before my 20-30 minute interval workout, and the other half after I have finished my work out. This gives you 2 servings of fruits, and vegy's, and almost 90% of the protein you need for the day, according to the potency of the protein powder you purchase. This can replace a meal or 2 daily, especially if you are trying to lose fat. This custom smoothie I make from an item list for my specific blood type. Your specific blood type may require you to have different ingredients that would benefit you. He said he would buy me some time, and told me to get my finances in order, and to go on a cruise after my aggressive treatment. I did get my finances in order, and I did go on some cruises. Well Dr. GOD obviously overruled, not only is it 10 years beyond my oncology Dr's projection of my before 2009 physical death, but 10 years NED as of a year ago after my last test's. I believe it is GOD leading/guiding me to living my healthiest best life as we navigate this journey, helping others along the way. LORD/GOD is not ready for me just yet, but when GOD is ready I pray I will hear the words come in my good and, faithful servant. Amen I do not fear physical death. That's amazing to hear, I'm so pleased for you. The doctors don't know everything that's for sure - we can't expect them to to be fair. Cancer is so unpredictable and unique to each person and their journey so it's up to us to follow our instincts. Thank God you have your faith and you listened to your inner voice or God. Back then I read I think 3 books on my diagnosis, and I had a sister who is a ,law librarian sending me packets of research studies. I know that statistically I should not be here in this physical body, but even though I prepared years ago to make a smooth transition to heaven, God overruled. I am so grateful/thankful to still be living , laughing, and loving life with my loved ones. Amen XoXoXoXo
Are you talking about a juicer that blends? I use 1/2 banana, (just cut in half with skin on p, keep unused half in natural skin wrap for next day) strawberries, any frozen berries, blackberries, blueberries etc for antioxidants, unsweetened almond or coconut milk, and I put any seeds or nuts I want in there too. Linseeds, sunflower, pumpkin seeds are all great. Also some Chia seeds, and then you need to add as much water or whichever milk you choose, as you need to make it drinkable.
Just blend and eat/sip/drink. Extra water/milk if you want it runnier.
I sometimes put some kale or spinach in as well. Yum.
Thanks Sandra. I struggle a bit with the green ones. I did kale cucumber celery apple lemon n ginger. It took some getting down lol. My fave is orange and celery which i try to have daily now. Theres loads of different ones - like you say its fun trying. 😆 xx
