Any one suffered from Mucositis / mouth ulcer as a result of chemo ? What need to be done to make the patient eat or overcome the pain while eating? Suggestion on food items in case of veg

Dissolve a tea spoon of salt in a glass of warm water and rinse the mouth regularly, its very soothing. Regular pain killers and topical pain killing gels.
Don't be tempted not to clean the teeth but you can get special gentle toothpaste which hurts less.
Speak to your dentist as they are the experts.
Bland food that is quick to eat and doesn't stay in the mouth long. I found fish good to eat and still tasted ok when cooling. No sharp fruit but I ate loads of bananas, melon and pears. Yogurt was soothing too. Stay well hydrated, it makes a difference.
Some people find wooden cutlery better than metal.
I did, very uncomfortable and I had to drink protein shakes with a straw.
My doctor prescribed magic mouth was with a numbing ahem that I think had lidocaine on it. They also prescribed an anti viral of some kind. I also gargles with a mouth rah for dry mouth over the counter. Finally the pain went away over about 2 weeks and it was better. Also, if you suck on ice or an ice pop while getting chemo it works.
Hi, I occasionally get a mouth ulcer, not nearly as bad as in early months. I am on month 9 now. I rinse my mouth with Difflam, a really good mouth rinse from pharmacy. Bonjela is good to apply. Fay
