ER Visit

I am on my mid-treatment of Ibrance 100mg. (Day 10) after my Oncologist reduced it from 125mg. The past few days have been rough, spending allot of time peeing, sweating, nauseated, headache, chest and arm pain gradually getting worse. Was taken to the ER this AM with heart attack symptoms getting worse. Turns out my heart is fine, just slammed with the side effects of my meds. As the ER doctor said, "You are taking poison to kill the poison in your body." After excellent care, I was sent home and told to rest. My Oncologist was online getting updates throughout the day. It was a rough day, but I stepped outside into the warm sunshine and smelled our Spring flowers and listened to the birds singing. I choose JOY! One day at a time.

So glad you are ok! How scary! Yes, our meds are tough sometimes! Ugh!

Sounds terrible, I’m glad you are able to choose joy. How many cycles have you done? I’m just starting my 3rd. I was in bed for 2 weeks on my second and in A&E on my first! Thinking of stopping it X

I am on my 2nd cycle of Ibrance, took 1 1/2 cycle of Verzenio (just about did me in with GI side effects, had to go off meds for 10 days to heal). Ibrance isn't as bad, but they all have side effects. I've agreed to try 6 months worth as long as my 3 month PET Scan shows no progression and hopefully shrinking of tumors. Otherwise I'll do my own thing.

That sounds interesting, what are you thinking about doing? X

I'm doing CBD Oil and THC oil now, putting Frankincense oil directly on my chest and under my arm where the tumors showed on the CAT Scan and taking 1 drop in a capsule daily, no sugar (been off it for 10 years), now adding Turkey Tail Mushroom powder, lots of home grown organic veggies, especially greens. Lots of homemade lemonade (with stevia) , organic carrot juice and filtered water. Soon I'll be swimming every day again. For now I work in my gardens and walk our little farm for exercise. Taking extra Vitamin D3 and taking a senior multivitamin, magnesium to help me sleep and probiotics. No caffeine. So far, even with my lowered WBC from the Ibrance, I have been able to stay healthy and avoid flu that was rampant here this winter! If I get a tinge of a sore throat I take a dose of Elderberry syrup for several days. And lots of laughter. I only watch happy TV, refuse to watch or participate in stressful things. And pray. I choose Joy!

Would you consider just using the cannabis oil as treatment instead of Ibrance? X

If the Ibrance shows it is not working, then yes.

I am tempted too. Would you do 60g in 60 days? Please let me know if you go ahead. My husband has done so much research but still not quite sure of the ratio for ER+ X

One other thing, myself and many ibrance takers I have spoken to have gone off dairy and found they have an easier time. Maybe you have already tried that but I thought it was worth mentioning. Take care!

in reply to Home18

I'm totally off dairy. Actually, I started whole food plant based only. No dairy, no meat, no fish, no eggs, no sugar, no salt, no oil. I'm following Dr. Greger's daily dozen. I feel good on it. Hope it will help :)

The only dairy I intake is buttermilk to help sooth my stomach. Not sure I can give it up!

Hi Survivornow,

I am taking all the same supplements as you! Excited to plant our garden once the snow melts.

You might want to try the 75 mg Ibrance dose, the side effects are much more tolerable for me and is working just as well.

I am also on the 75mg dose of Ibrance. I started on 125mg and my wbc was too low to finish the cycle. Then I was switched to 100 mg but the count was still too low to continue on that dose too. I am ending my 2nd cycle of the 75mg dose and I am tolerating this so much better!!

Give the 75mg dose a try if your doc agrees....

Hi,

I'm glad to hear you are back home from the hospital and that you are feeling much better. It must have been a scary time for you, but it is really good news that you are doing well now.

This is a lovely time of year, so it's great that you are enjoying spring and all it has to offer. I love to stop by and smell the daffodils this time of year. When the lilac comes into bloom I will be stopping at every tree for a whiff!

Take care,

Sophie x

I’m so glad you are okay and that you got such good care! That is the worst reaction to the meds that I’ve heard about. Hoping you can keep feeling better and that you are able to get used to the drugs.

Hi, sorry to hear that you are having such a tough time on your meds. I can never understand how medications affect people so differently. I am happy to hear that you are back home! I pray that was your last visit to the ER and that all the natural rememdies keep you moving ahead with no more side effects. I agree with girlsptz, The mind is a very powerful tool! Use it for all good thoughts. Stay positive! Hugs!

I'm so glad you're home. Has your onc suggested a two week Ibrance/100 mg?

Didn't I read on our thread here that someone was successfully on a 2 week Ibrance regiment?

God bless you. I felt like that initially but it got better and now I feel better. The first three months of treatment were the worse. I almost went to the Er myself and got bronchitis on cycle 3. I fell in the parking lot before lab but wasn’t injured . Take one day at a time-the results are amazing.❤️

Hi, glad your heart is okay. I was on 100 mg and the side effects were intolerable. Onc lowered me to 75. It’s been much easier. Mild fatigue has been my worst symptom but I’m on my week off and I have chest/back pain. It’s been so bad, I had an xray and they don’t see anything that would be causing the pain. I hope this side effect goes away for the both of us.

So happy you were able to appreciate the sunshine and flowers. Maybe they will lower your dose. Sending gentle hugs until you feel better.
