My mouth has begun to be sore the third day after chemo this time it’s has last almost up to the day to go back for another round of chemo. It’s very uncomfortable to eat and just the pain alone.

Mouth being sore is there any way to comfort this?
Mucositis is a side effect of many types of cancer meds. My doctor recommended Biotin. In the last 12 years I’ve learned of other things as well. Aloe juice is soothing, healing and a good prebiotic, get it in the refrigerated section of the fruit and vegetable department at your grocery store, also online. Honey is full of antioxidants and promotes healing. Try some in a warm liquid to ease some discomfort.
If your mouth and throat are very sore, ask your doctor for a prescription for Magic Mouthwash. It numbs the throat so you can eat. A very dear friend had bleeding ulcerations in her mouth and throat during her 4th first inhuman clinical trial. The oncology nurses recommended a product called Healios Mouthwash. It gave her immediate relief and helped with healing. It’s available online. It’s pricy but it might be worth it as side effects of chemo tend to be cumulative. CB
I wish you well.
As Denzie suggests, Magic Mouthwash was wonderful in treating this and the soreness didn’t last long. Hope this helps! 🙏🏻❤️
Rinsing/gargling with Bicarbonate of Soda was recommended by the Oncology Nurses. It worked well for me, seemed to stop the ulcers from progressing. I gargled usually three times a day and only ended up getting a few minor ulcers that healed quickly.
Cheap and easily available.
Good luck.
When I was going through chemo the nurses gave me ice chips to eat and I never did get any mouth sores.I don't know if it would help once you had the sores or not.
Good Luck to you!!
As macor has commented a preventative is icy cold before and during your chemo session. I personally sipped on a slushy type fruit drink (from Sonic😋) my whole infusion time and never had any mouth sores. This was a tip passed on to me from another patient. 🙏🏻 for great outcome!
Try a product called Gly-oxide. It was very hard to find in the last 6 months but seems to be back on the market. Amazon currently has it and I used to find it at Walgreens. I used it during TCHP chemo and it really helped. Ice chips during chemo really help too.
