Silicone or saline implants?

I am 60+ and had a double mastectomy and will have reconstruction. Looking for insight between saline or silicone implants. Is one more comfortable in the body? Any problems with either? If you had to choose again, which one would you choose and why? Thank you in advance

While I haven’t had implants my sister and good friend both have for cosmetic purposes. They both developed issues through the years that caused both of them to have the implants removed. Just really do your research first. I do have another friend in Canada whose doctor used her own tissue from her abdomen to create breasts. I do think that is the best way. She has had no issues. Wishing you well!

I had silicone implants done in February (double mastectomy). Prior to making this decision last fall, my surgeon discussed why we should go with silicone. I recommend that you discuss with your surgeon based on his experience and expertise.

I certainly will. But my surgeon is male. I was hoping to get perspective from those who are living with the implants and what went into making their decision and if they would do the same thing if they had to do it over again. Thx again

Hi there, I'm not sure if my response helps but here it goes. I'm 57. I had Saline implates in 2005 mainly because my son nursed the tire out of my right girl (lol). Fast forward, I was diagnosed initially with Stage 2 BC and had a lumpectomy. They were able to preserve my implant. The cancer came back in the precise location on my right breast. So I'm now MBC and still have my saline implants. The reason I chose Saline is because the inside is basically salt water and to me silicon smacks of plastic and toxins. Also Saline is much more realistic feeling. Like a real breast tissue as opposed to "memory foam" as it were. Here is a link that describes both. healthline.com/health/salin... in your choices ! If I had my druthers, I'd take my right girl off and just wear a bra with an insert. No reason to risk further medical situations

Greeting sister/warrior: I had (2 )girlfriends with the fat transfer procedure from their stomachs to their breast. One of my girlfriends. You can't tell which breast had the reconstruction . Her very experienced Dr. even made a breast nipple that looked like the unaffected breast 12 years ago :) . My other girlfriend went with an inexperienced female Dr. who made my girlfriend believe she did lot's of these surgeries :( . This Dr. was a general surgeon trying to get experience to be able to do more of these surgeries . These breast surgeries pay so much more than the surgeries this so called Dr. was use to doing :( . This girlfriend ended up having (3)operations 6 years ago to make the breast look good in her clothing. The scars were patchwork looking that were removed from her stomach skin. :( This girlfriend had t(2)different infections, and had to be hospitalized on one occasion. Me, and her daughter had to help her get Oxycodine pain killers, because she was in so much pain,. She didn't like taking aspirin, and definitely not prescription drugs. She was crying, and unable to sleep for days. I remember her telling me she wish she had not had this surgery by this Dr. She refused to go back to this Dr. who wanted her to come back to do a 4th operation to give her a nipple, and to clean up her scars that had Keloided. Three years later my girlfriend died of a Pulmonary Embolism in her sleep 3 days after we celebrated her 48th birthday. There is no pain or suffering in heaven. Please make sure this is an experienced Dr. who has done a lot of these fat transfer surgeries. I would not have silicone, or saline put in my body. Remember the saline is more natural in the body, but both implants are encased in a plastic cover. See if you can use your own body fat, even if you have to gain weight to have fat to harvest. In whatever decision you make GOD bless you sister warrior😇🙏
