Experience with elevated CEA tumor marker

I had a lumpectomy and radiation therapy and finished treatment almost 1 year ago. I'm currently on an AI (generic Arimidex) and doing well.

My new oncologist order 3 tumor markers (CA 125, 15-3 and a CEA). All were within normal limits, but my CEA was slightly elevated on 2 different times. She wants it repeated next month (November 2018). I know it's non-specific, but I wonder if anyone has had this lab test and similar results.

Thank you very much.

Ina

Hi, there. I have not heard of any of those. I guess they look at these when they draw blood? I’ll have to ask my oncologist, what he’s looking at when I go on every theee months. Keep us posted.

I haven’t had an increase in CEA however many do and it can be caused by a number of factors...not only an indication that cancer is active or progressing. Let us know what happens in November.
