I’m 7 years out since my breast cancer diagnosis. I’m still taking anastrozole. I plan to do this for the full 10 years.

Well, I was on Arimidex back in 2006 after right breast lumpectomy w/radiation. I was in my 50's and working full time, so if there were any side effects, I didn't notice because I was so busy with life.

My sister has had awful side effects from Arimidex, so I guess everyone has different reactions.

I took it for almost 10 years then I was diagnosed again in other breast in 2016. So, don't know if it prevented recurrence in right breast, but obviously didn't do anything for prevention in left breast. That being said, I also have a PALB-2 gene which is an aggressive breast cancer and pancreatic cancer gene. I'm also triple negative.

I was on Aromosin after my mastectomy in 2016, but experienced horrible side effects. Oncologist put me back on Arimidex, but then I felt a lot of joint pain. So, I am off of everything. AI's won't make a difference with triple neg anyway.

I really can't suggest anything to you, because I don't know your genetics or your receptors.

One thing I can say though is that if oncologists had to take these AI's, I bet they'd figure out something else to give us. They're all horrible.
