They want to get a complete picture of what's going on before they treat. I wish you all the best as you travel down this rocky road. In the meantime, I hope you can fit into your daily life things you love to do so your focus can be shifted occasionally to pleasure and comfort. It's tough being a warrior 24/7.
Since you are now stage 4 you might want to write into the Metastatic breast community at healthunlocked.com/share-me.... Surgery might be unnecessary as you will be doing a different course of treatment. Sounds like your doctor is suggesting a new tactic which works well for your type of cancer. Try and hang in there until you know for sure. Please keep us posted and continue to look to us for support. Remember we are here for you.
Greetings: Bubba_6/Warrior/Sister .I pray for God to place earthly and heavenly angels around you. I was supposed to have surgery when my mammogram showed stage 2 breast cancer. My surgeon wanted to know if I had any questions bc I had been quiet during her explanation of the surgery. I stated that I had to live. I had an 8 year old son whose father had died from Lou Gehrig's disease just a couple years ago. I wasn't going to give him another tragedy. She excused herself for a few minutes and came back in saying she was sending me to the cancer treatment center for chemo immediately. Thank God she did. When all my tests were complete they found lesions on my spine and hip bone. The chemo irradicated all of it. I had suregery to remove the area where the tumor originated a year after chemo when the cancer hadn't returned yet. It saved my life doing chemo first. Your doctor is probably verifying everything before surgery. I know it is frustrating. I am sorry you're having to go though all that. It will get better when you feel your treatment plan is set. Best wishes to you.
