I’ve had urine issues for 2 years. I’m 41. Last year diagnosed with bph.
I know as you get older your prostate gets bigger and risks of serious illness increase, but can help worrying about the road ahead In 10 years time. I’d rather know the truth so I can prepare rather than catch me off guard.
my question is how long have you been suffering from/ had bph?

I was on flomax for a few years (can't remember the generic name) which worked for a while, but (after a few years...) I realised it had been getting worse and I was just getting used to it - in the way that I was putting up with the problem. Peeing every 1 or 2 hours. So i went back to the Dr which ended up with me having an op to reduce my prostate size.Probably diagnosed when I was 52, I am 61 now, had the op 3y ago.
Turp. My advice, when you're ready for it, is to research the urology depts of your 'local' hospitals as not all of them will offer all ops. Also, some ops are only appropriate for 'smaller' enlarged prostates. Id let mine go on too long, so for me the only option was a turp.Which was all fine btw.
