Partner had a heart attack

Partner had a heart attack. Got 3 stents in. Takes lots of meds Doesn't work. Has no energy sleeps most of the afternoon. Cooks and watches conspiracy theories on his p.c. I ask him to go for walks he refuses. Only exercise he gets is walking to the kitchen. It's been 9 months since he had his heart attack. We are living separate lives. I work and on weekends spend time alone or keep busy doing my walks see a friend. I am in therapy. He doesn't believe in therapy. Sometimes I want to run away.

A serious illness can bring about depression, lack of will to live, change in personality and behaviour. After my stents, I felt I was a sick puppy abandoned on the roadside cause I was useless to close ones and a potential burden.Survived it and became independent but my heart was broken. Still is to some extent.

Love, compassion and kindness can heal much faster than any medication, walks or exercises.

He will want do what it takes if he has a reason to live.

I immersed myself in studying and found a purpose that I enjoy. Still have no one who cares and diagnosed with Cancer as well, but it keeps me going and am at peace with it now.

If I felt loved, the journey might have been easier. God only Knows.

Just my experience and opinion.

Bring him back if you can. Damaged, hurt hearts take time and patience.

Wishing you the best. Stay strong and don't give up. Some may not show it, but they need you.

Thank you for your message. It means a lot to me. I think that is great that you found a purpose to study. You became independent. Love and compassion are the words that jump out at me. Thank you. I am glad you feel at peace. We are all trying to come to that place. Your message gives me hope. I wish you the best.

sounds like he is depressed and needs your help and support to get over his heart attack although unfortunately like most blokes they struggle to talk about it

Good luck and hope you can get through to him ❤️

Thank you. I appreciate your response. I try to picture what he is going through and it can't be easy. He doesn't drink or smoke any more which is great! Change in lifestyle isn't easy for anyone.

it’s not easy -I had a heart attack over 3 years ago and had 3 stents … am fine physically but mentally has been a struggle so know something of what your partner is going through!

Keep supporting him- he may need therapy

Thank you. I can't imagine what it must be like. He isn't much of a talker but I will do my best to support him. He will not go to therapy as I suggested that and he said absolutely no way!! I go for myself as I want to support him without being a nag..... Thx for the response. Wish you all the best.
