This is all very and very interesting however whilst trying to relieve us from the stress and worry re correct diet to protect us, he has in fact simply added to the confusion!

I guess as always common sense prevails, eat balanced diet, avoid process foods where you can. Don't over eat and excercise!

In my opinion the confusion stems from the AHA who appear more interested in protecting their sponsors. For me the most important factors are reduce simple carbs, replace with healthy fats, remove all oils, eat only real food, exercise regularly but in moderation as part of your daily life eg walk to work, eliminate all sugar or as close as you can get excusing natural sugars such as those in fruit.

Do you even mean olive oil?

Otherwise I'd agree, thought I lived like that for years and years other than my excercise was more high end.

Resulted in cardiac arrest last July. No trigger factors or family history so only option I have is calm excercise to moderate.

There are plenty of trials that show that olive oil causes measured endothelial dysfunction. Esseltyn and Ornish both preach NO OIL.
