Can anyone tell me just what your annual check up tells the medic ? For example ,when your bloods are taken Do they do a full check of blood platelets for any underlying problems such as being bit by for instance ticks etc?

Tell the phlobotomist what you want tested. Liver/kidney functions chloresterol sugar are really the vital ones. Just pull the ticks off your skin, fry them with an egg.... lovely... just like marmite.

There's 100s of tests they can do so it's just the basics - liver and kidney function, electrolytes, cholesterol and a few hormones. But if you are worried about Lyme disease, just ask the nurse to take an extra phial of blood for that.

I always get mine whenever I ask - usually next day. Sounds like you don't have the best of GPs and time to find a better one

AHH Mike you are so lucky. The gp`s are ok but totally overworked. it`s the system in Leicester . Very pc with heads in the sand , entire area is overloaded with immigrants mainly non EU and the system has about collapsed totally. The local Health Authority has not got the guts to say about the problem we have, but I know of one GP who went to my local MP Keith Vaz in desparation to explain what was happening and was shall we say "not listened to "
