Hi Keith, great to hear you're living life. I had my first attack last week (21/11/16) aged just 35. I'm 5'11, weigh 12stone, never smoked or taken drugs, and do rarely drink I can't remember the last time. So this came as a huge shock to me, and I'm certainly now questioning my life expectancy. I had 2 stents placed into my lower artery as there was a partial blockage. Still unsure of what if any lasting damage has been caused, but I'm totally devastated as I'm sure you were. Hope you're well and living life - CG.

Hi, my name is Gerald, I had CABGx2 7 years ago in june. I am 68 and in the thyroid group also. I know there is a problem with durability for the saphenous vein grafts, I had at least one, was wondering what to expect down the road. I am doing well now.

Hello my name is Mo I had a heart attack six years ago.I was not aware I had had one, my only symptom was extreme tiredness and I mentioned this to the practice nurse, who to my surprise gave me an ecg. I had a stent fitted and took up the offer of rehab. I have continued with exercise and gradually increased the intensity and amount I do. I generally stick to a relatively healthy diet of fish, vegetables, occasionally chicken. I was put on the standard statin/ bisoprolol/aspirin meds and told I would be on them for life. No explanations or discussion on if I could do anything to change this. Have tried 6 months off statins but as cholesterol went from 3.4 to 7.2 my GP convinced me to start them again on a halved dose. I am still trying to lose more weight in an attempt to come off Bp meds have only managed to lose 2 stone need to lose at least another 3.

Hello my name is Fran. I had a heart attack in July 2014. Had a stent put in my right ventricle artery. Went to cardiac rehab. Continued going to a gym, walking and exercising. I still have to use nitro spray and I wear a nitro patch every day.

Hi my name is Mark. I had a heart attack in 2013 at the age of 56. Had one stent fitted as a result. I am probably a little unusual in that I decided to read and research everything I could about Hear Attacks and Heart Disease so that I could take things into my own hands. I quickly discovered that there was a great many things that the doctors were not telling me or perhaps were not allowed to tell me. After 6 months I dropped all my med's and opted for a predominantly whole food plant based diet with some fish. I incorporated some supplements into my regime and was astounded with the initial reaction which was, despite eating as much as I wanted, a drop in weight of 34lbs which brought my weight back to the same weight I was when I was 21. As a way of documenting my thoughts I have been blogging about my experience since pretty much day 1. My message is take things in hand, empower yourself, it has mental benefits as well as physical.

Hello everyone --- I'm here to find some help !! and here you all are helping each other after all you have been through so thank you for what you have done; so much.

My boyfriend, now 55 had a HA in May 2016 and due to blockages no stents given and he was prescribed all the regular medication which he is currently still taking.

He's been so very tired lately and has been to his GP (after much encouragement) as he was also suffering from indigestion (angina), heavy leg syndrome.

And we are awaiting an appointment with the NHS to have an angioplasty and/or stent fitted which I have already queried why now and not then when it all happened?

Yesterday he left work early as he had a bad turn 'thumping on the top right of his chest by his shoulder, butterflies across the chest and pins and needles in his left arm which he said was due to sleeping on it. When all this was happening he had asked his colleagues what he looked like and they said grey and his lips where blue. Well, I nearly had a HA myself; as he then took two puffs of his spray and drove home and straight to bed where he stayed.

My question is everyone please is; knowingly this is serious symptoms (to me - my boyfriend says I worry too much and cause him stress when I ask questions) - I do try not to so many times. --- Has anyone else ever had these symptoms please?

Thank you again

Moira

Hello, my name is Joao I'm 52 and I had a heart attack out of the blue in Feb 2016, and had one stent fitted. In August 2016 I had another stent fitted to another artery which was clear when I had the first stent. Initial recovery went very well after the HA, but after the second stent things have been a bit of a roller coaster! I've been suffering with anxiety, panic attacks, dizziness and had one incident of blood in the urine due to the medication (Ticagrelor). Very fustrated overall, as when I think that things are getting better something else comes along.

Never smoked, only drink very occasionally, my weight in now within my normal BMI, did the cardio rehab twice (after each stent) and I have joined the local gym cardio classes (I attend when I feel up to it). I've also adjusted my diet and done the expected lifestyle changes.

Over the last few days, I think that I started to get angina as well as severe anxiety. Very fustrated as things are going backwards instead of forward, and not for the lack of trying to do the right things...

Anyway, looking forward to learn from others experiences here

Hi Joao, i hope you are feeling better now? you describe my worst fear, i had a OHCA July 31st 2016 complete shock, i've alway lived fit and healthy lifestyle, no risk factors and no family history. I have 1 stent in LAD and since i have never felt comfortable. Varying chest pains, upper abdomen etc. they tell me it's muscular skeletal.

i've been to A&E 10 times, each sent away with all OK, bloods and ECG etc. i've had anxiety support and go to rehab though it's a breeze as a cycled 150-200 miles per week before.

I too have had blood in urine twice now, which went with urine infection. Take all the usual meds, which makes no sense as my blood pressure and cholesterol were both fine, here why GP sent me packing when i complained of chest pains in the week prior to CA. I don't know why i get these aches, all is going well and then they return and i lose my confidence again. I'm told arteries pristine but then read your story and fear again.

I don't know which way to turn. If i didn't have private health care i don't know where i'd be as NHS discharged me in Oct!

Would be good to hear how you're doing, take care.

Not sure what happened but my introduction I posted in the HEART HEALTH COMMUNITY, ended up in the PROSTATE CANCER COMMUNITY. ???

Hi Everyone,

I'm Brian 68 and new to the site and feel really lucky to have found you. I had a heart attack 5 weeks ago and then 2 stents fitted. It looks as though my problems are generic from my mothers side as my dad is 98 and happy as Larry unfortunately, my mother had angina, my brother died very young at 43 from a massive heart attack and my half brother has 2 stents fitted as well. I thought I was doing all the right with my lifestyle so having a HA still was a bit of a shock. I wanted to ask about holidays. I was already booked for a Spanish week in May at my friends and as I'm already a nervous flier I'm doubly nervous now about leaving as he lives up in the mountains. I would feel a bit of a wimp cancelling and my wife is looking forward to us both relaxing out there. Has anyone been in the same situation and how did you handle it. I suppose everyone is different but wondered anyway!

Hi, I had heart attack 6 weeks ago on March13th...I was admitted to hospital on March 13th for high blood pressure was scheduled for heart cath that afternoon, but blood lab error caused delay for heart cath until next day...I had heart attack in hospital that night before heart cath but my symptoms were rare (did not show on heart monitor) & hospital did not know until after heart attack with blood work...heart cath showed widow maker artery 99% blockage & another artery 90% blocked requiring 3 stents...only by the grace of God am I alive--I praise my Jesus for being alive today!
