It is Random Acts of Kindness Day! Today we are highlighting our volunteering opportunities at Arrhythmia Alliance. Did you know that studies show that volunteering can:

- Reduce stress and depression

- Improve physical health and social connection

- Even reduce the risk of cardiovascular issues and mortality

Here are some easy ways to make a difference:

- Volunteer to organise a Know Your Pulse event

- Encourage someone to check their pulse with our helpful videos

- Share heart health facts on social media

As you posted this three times I am responding to tell you that once is enough! At 81, with chronic fatigue as well as the well controlled PAF, my volunteering days are long over. I used to edit and read for our local talking newspaper for the blind and visually impaired but had to stop when the fatigue developed.

Dear Vonnegut. Apologies, my mistake for posting this several times, there were some technical issues. Thank you for sharing about your volunteering experiences. I have chronic fatigue myself so can absolutely relate about the difficulties of managing it alongside activities. It is a shame your volunteering days are over but I wish you all the best. Kind regards, Emily (Digital Communications Coordinator)

I’m incredibly impressed you can do what you do with the fatigue, but I am 81 and had around 75 healthy, active years until the fatigue and heart condition struck after a virus when I couldn’t get an appointment at our surgery. I had amazing proper family doctors in the past but sadly, no longer. Fortunately, my husband does a lot of the stuff I can no longer manage to do and my brain still works - problems there are so much worse!

Sorry to hear about your ill health and difficulties accessing medical care. Hopefully this forum and our resources online provide you with some further guidance and peer support to help you continue to feel informed and connected. Arrhythmia Alliance is here for you if you ever need more support: heartrhythmalliance.org/aa/... . Best wishes, Emily

Yes, this forum is a great support as is the group of local people on Facebook who have fatigue and I found the AFA was very helpful at the start of this journey.
