The crying, feeling a victim, feeling sorry for yourself, anxiety, helpless yeh we all get that. You learn to deal with it eventually. I took counselling and now practice Mindfulness to help control mine. The physical side takes time also but for me I recovered guicker physically than mentally. On a positive note we made it through and we should celebrate that shouldn't we.

Hi Janetbob, , I really feel for you, being so young 56 yrs no age at all, even at my age of 78 yrs i was shattered to be told i had a heart attack , i was quite active up until that day April 26th 2016 , i played ball games with my younger grandchildren , on my feet for upwards of 5 hours some days -enjoyed walking 2 or more miles per day ,i will be watching out for news about you and how you are doing one of my daughters is your age , i hope things will get better and better for you, take care xxx Gill .

Thanks Gill. It is such a shock at any age and I suddenly realised my world had been turned upside down in a moment! I know it's gonna take a while both physically n emotionally. I'm now just so grateful for everyday xx

Hi Again,JanetBob, , Yes i too am grateful to be alive, i dont have any after pains from the 3 stents ,but my downfall as i see it- are the tablets i am on,it's been trial and error to sort out which if any were causing stomach problems,i never suffered from before the meds , perindopril,,---bisoprolol clopidogrel , , i had been on another tablet to be taken four times per day-to protect the stomach from excess acid, but was taken off those,i had a colonoscopy ,not a nice scan to have-no problems found i am glad to say ,i wonder if you will find it worrying as i do when the shape and size of tablets are changed ,i was told when ordered from a different company ,i hope you dont worry too much, and regain your health very soon,Happy New Year dear x Gill .

What a terrible shock.... awful timing.... I'm same age as you.... had myour h/a in October.... had a Stent fitted too.... I sort of knew I would have one... but not so early!! It's a real shock made worse by the fact you suddenly feel you have no control over your mortality.... that is the key emotional trait which makes us feel that way. I'm sort of over that stage now.... I built up my walking to 6km a day and got myself a dog to help with the exercise and change in lifestyle.. I really recommend it..... put your health at the forefront the and it will help you take back control..... well almost. Take care... ask me any question happy to help.

Hi arty-sax,how well you put it,exactly,, the feeling, of having no control of ones own mortality ,, i hope you get to enjoy many more years of fruitful life-good luck and Happy New Year x

I had my h/a one month after my 54th birthday and 2 stents fitted, so know how you feel about shock, disbelief, fear etc. Allow yourself time for a pity- party....it's a grieving process for the life you had. You still have a life, it could be more healthily, more fulfilling, more everything ..but that's up to you.

I suffer quite badly from indigestion since my h/a. I found a couple of Gaviston tablets usually do the trick. It will probably be the aspirin that's causing the problem. I've got to get back to the doctors and get more pills to combat that..also the ramipril is causing an irritating cough, so that's another one to get sorted. It a case of adjustment all 'round.

my cardiologist said I am 'fixed' from a heart perspective but one year on, I'm struggling emotionally. My meds were changed from Atorvastatin to Crestor, I take Candersartan not Ramipril and imperative for the heartburn. 400mg twice day of co-enzyme Q10 helps with the tiredness and has changed my life from sleeping 18 hours per day to normal 7-8 hrs.

I get it from Amazon. Also on aspirin but the gastro resistant ones.

Hope this helps.

X

hi, it's now 2 and a half years since I had my heart attack. It was a great surprise to myself ,my family and my friends. I considered myself to be quite fit etc. It has taken me a long time to to get over this.I am positive about life tho, as I think I'm not going to waste it by sitting around and not seeing people or places.come to terms with this.. some days I am full of energy, other days I can hardly do anything.

Generally I try to stick to a routine, I get my Mum to phone me at 8.15 in the morning, usually I get up then, but occasionally I still need to sleep a bit more.

I also found the tablet rap....to give me a terrible cough, my doctor changed it no problem.

As far as medicine for indigestion, I agree with another person, ask your doctor, or even better ask a pharmacist as they know far more about what drugs can be taken together...

Be positive, thankful that you survived and live every day, doing things the days that you can and resting on the others it works for me. I have also told my family and friends about how I feel, I am very lucky that they all support me.

Now I wish you A very Happy Healthy New Year. Jenny

The best thing to do is when you wake up, take the Lansoprazole and beta blocker first after drinking a pint of water. Next fill your tummy with porridge... Flanahans organic Irish is the best. Now take your ramipril etc... after this. Drink at least 4 more pints of water during the day. Take your statin before bed. No tea coffee or any other drinks.... after 2 days you will be thanking me for making you feel great!!!

Try not to get yourself down think positive. This is a new start yes you have a had a h/a but it is not the end of the world. Things can only get better. Remember to eat healthy take the medication go for long walks you're be fine. After having mine last Feb I thought how am I gonna cope. But after losing 3 stone and eating the right food's and doing regular exercise things couldn't be better. As for the ingestion tablets I gave up on those after experiencing stomach pains so I take yaulk after having my breakfast. It works for me.

Good luck and take care.

Sorry but wat is yaulk

Daveyboy77 profile image

Sorry meant to spell yakult. My doctor told me to take this as I kept on getting stomach aches and diarrhoea while taking omerprazole . Don't know if it's a placebo effect but I don't get the effects that I used to. Give it a try it might work. Have a word with your doctor first see what he says incase it effects any other medication that you are on. Good luck.
