Bad headaches & nausea

6 weeks post HA and suffering daily headaches, feels like a sledge hammer in back of head. I'm guessing it's due to the meds but does anyone else get these?

Sorry to hear about your headaches. I’m on lots of medication following my heart attack and the leaflets with a few of them do say that the side effects can be headaches. Sounds like you could do with seeing your GP who may be able to adjust your prescriptions. Have you been invited to a rehab centre yet? You could discuss with them when you do. I just got my invite for the week after next. All the best.

Hi whiteheads, how are you feeling now? I've got my date for next stent 11/11 and then I can start my rehab and hopefully get back to work. Going to call cardio nurse Monday for headaches. Feel very lousy today and tired, so maybe done too much yesterday!

Hi Debee28. Sorry to hear you re having a rotten day. I hope the next stent goes well and that you are ok in the meantime. Since my latest angiogram I have only felt twinges very rarely so it looks like people are right and that you do get better, but it really is a slow road to recovery. I think we just have to accept that we won’t be back to normal for a while, get plenty of rest and take help where it’s offered. I sometimes feel guilty having other people run around for me but things are what they are. I hope the cardio nurse can help you with the headaches - I’m sure they are very draining. Take good care of yourself and do let me know how things are going.

It seems my blood pressure was sky high hence the headaches! Now on 10mg of rampirl and they have lessened!

Stent on Monday!

Hi Debee28

So glad your headaches have improved and hope you are feeling better in yourself. I hope Monday goes well, let me know you're ok. I went to the pre-assessment for my cardiology rehab and they have postponed the start date as I have still been having some chest pain. They decided to increase the isosorbide mononitrate to 90mg and bisopriol to 5mg. I am also on 7.5 mg of ramipril. So many tablets its hard to keep track isn't it?! I have had a good couple of days now and can drive again from today so feeling quite positive. Have a good weekend and good luck on Monday.

Hi whiteheart, thank you for asking! It was pretty awful as I was down there 4 hours and there were a few complications! But all done now and recovering at home with my bruises! Glad it's over.

How are things with you?

4 hours! You poor thing. Did they go through your arm or leg? The lying around afterwards is a nightmare too isn’t it?! Hope that’s the end of all your problems. Take it easy though - don’t rush back to work too soon

. Things are all going ok with me thanks - got a change in the appointment at the cardiac rehab - now on 6th December

They tried 4 attempts through my right arm, then went through my left and the wire got kinked, then I told them my catheter was out so not getting any pain relief, the consultant surgeon then scrubbed in!!

I was hoping to do a phased return to work in two weeks? Am I rushing? I can work at home if I want to and do less hours. I've had 9 weeks off now.

I'm hoping I can do cardio rehab in a couple of weeks too!

Sounds awful. Bet your arms are black and blue. Hope it’s all plain sailing for you from now on. But don’t rush back to work until you feel strong enough. If you can work from home I’d go for that until rehab is well underway. Being alive is the main thing!! Thank goodness for the technology eh? 30 years or so ago we’d have been goners!

Ive no idea what the rehab will actually be like - let’s compare notes and progress.

Yes I have numerous lovely bruises all over both arms lol

I think the rehab is slightly different everywhere, mine is twice a week for an hour. Be good to compare notes!

So difficult to know when to go back, but I'd like to go back for just a few hours couple of days a week, the hard part will be not taking on too much, too soon. I miss the routine of work.

Hi Debee28. Sorry to see in your recent post that you are feeling a bit down. Your job sounds exciting (you are a police officer maybe?) and I bet you miss the action. It’s hard coming to terms with what’s happened isn’t it?! I have good and bad days but I’ve gone a few days without any pains or having to use the spray so I’m hoping I’m gradually getting over it and will get the go ahead to step up the walking and exercises when I go to rehab next month. Have you got a date for your rehab yet? I hope your bruises are healing and that you feel better in yourself. Stay strong - we have to remember we are survivors not victims (even though we find it hard some days). Take care and keep in touch.

Hi whiteheart, I was previously with the police but now am a head of service, feel very privileged to do my job and think it will help me getting back partly. Sitting st home never suits me! My gp said yesterday I can go back next week on a phased return, so am planning a couple of morning a week and I can always work from home.

Work have been very supportive and want me to see occ health before I return. I guess I need to start somewhere in getting some normality back.

Bruises are healing nicely and just waiting on the date for rehab .... still don't really know what to expect!

Signed up to diabetes course from January, as need to do low carb diet now!

That's great that u haven't needed your spray so much.

Hi Debee28. Did you make it back to work ok? Take it easy though, I know from experience how stressful a senior management job can be. Hope you are feeling well. I am ok / went to football last night for the first time since the heart attack and now looking forward to cardiac rehab starting next week. Regards. Steve

Hiya, yes went in monday morning and then was exhausted for rest of the day! Football! Well that is good. I spoke to colleague st work today (cardio trained) and she asked if I had done phase 3 (I havent) and so just called hospital and now booked on, apparently they decided I could skip it. Have you done phase 3?

Whiteheart profile image

Hi. Watching not playing! Not surprised you were exhausted after all you’ve been through. Not sure what phase 3 (or phases 1 or 2 come to that) actually is. I’ll ask at the rehab next week. Hope you’re not doing too much at work - you need to ease back in. Do you have a long commute? That can tire anyone out. Tell them you need a holiday!

Haha! I'm 5 mins drive and get to park in car park now. Doing very little and everyone being very protective but felt good to not be in my slouch wear and interacting.

Cardiac team at work really helpful, phase 1 HA, phase 2 recovery and gentle walking, phase 3 at hospital where you do some exercise, nutrition, health etc over 5 days and phase 4 is cardiac rehab just exercise.

Bit annoyed they decided to skip it without asking!

That’s handy and your own car space - perfect. Beats the London Underground! Sounds like you’re glad to be back. It will help you get over the scare of having had a heart attack. It’s taken me a long while to get my confidence back. It doesn’t seem right that they’ve skipped phase 3 - it sounds quite important. I think my hospital appointment next week must be to kick off phases 3 and 4. Take care.
