There is no doubt in my mind that when I eat sugar and gluton, as I did today, my RLS gets worse. When I eat a clean diet, the pain is so much less. There is no doubt about it for me.
As far as the impact RLS has had on my life, it has been extreme and I have come to terms with not having energy to do almost anything. Its the meds and the side effects more than the RLS. itself.
My regime at night to SEDUCE SLEEP...hot whirlpool right before bed, replace my Neuopa patch and slip into bed with good thoughts that I will get some sleep. Sometimes it works ...tonight it is not...WHY? I have eaten sugar all day long and I can feel it in my limbs.

Lots of people find too much sugar or sugary stuff can make their RLS worse. The same as caffeine can do the same for some.
I know just what you mean with the meds. even if i do sleep at night, the side effects can have the draw back of draining energy. I do less stuff than i used to do. Age of course doesnt help, at 65 i find i have slowed down then add in the side effects from the meds. it adds up to changing how you used to do things...
ABSOLUTELY. I HAVE HAD COME TO TERMS WITH A SEDENTARY WAY OF LIVING. ITS OK BUT DIFFERENT. NO ENERGY TO EXERCISE SO I HAVE GAINED 20 POUNDS. HAD A REALLY BD NIGHT LAST NITE. IT WAS SO UPSETTING TO SEE, IN MY LIGHT SLEEP HOW I WAS TOSSING AND TURNING AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. I STARTED THINKING OF WHAT ELSE I HAD TO EAT BESIDES TOO MUCH SUGAR AND GLUTON(COOKIES)..AND IT DAWNED ON ME THAT I HAD THAT SAUCE WITH EGG ROLLS WHICH IS FILLED WITH SUGAR. OH MY. ANOTHER LESSON LEARNED ABOUT STAYING OUT OF DENIAL. THANX FOR YOUR COMMENT
I didn't know about sugar possibly making RLS worse until I came to this site. I don't have a lot of sugar but I am looking at this right now. I eat a lot of fruit and of course sugar is in fruit. I find if I over execercise or under exercise my RLS is worse so I have to get the balance right. In my case the problems the RLS causes and the impact on my life is worse than the meds. However past meds I have been very ill on. RLS is a complete nightmare full stop for a lot of us.
