has any one tryed requip
Hi Jane, yes, I'm on Requip at the moment together with Clonazepam. It works for me - I first started taking it at a dose of 0.5mg and slept like a log for the first few weeks. I had to gradually increase the dose and eventually got up to 3.5mg. The max you are supposed to take for RLS is 4mg, so I researched what else I coud take (my GP knows nothing about the condition), and saw that, apart from opioids, Gabapentin was shown to help with my condition - at least, it was meant to help with periodic limb movement disorder which you can also get with RLS, and which was the thing which kept me awake at night. So I got my doc to prescribe Gabapentin, which was only partially successful. I was referred on to a neurologist who put me back on to 1mg of Requip and .5mg (I think) of Clonazepam - and I sleep like a log! It's bliss! So my personal experience of Requip is that it does work, and I have no problems with it. Good luck - I hope you get some relief.

Lots of people here have tried to or are using it, or are in some stage of "love/.hate relationship" with Requip. If you look over the questions you will find a TON of posts on this and other dopamine agaists, mostly Mirapex. do you have any specific questions about iit? No one thing wroks for everyone, unfortunately. For me, mysels, I cannot tolerate it, made me violently ill, and it did not stop my RLs. hers sleep like a log especialy when one gets the right combination treatment. sometimes a combo at lower doses work better thab just one med.
Hi Jane, I have been taking requip since June and have worked my way up to 1mg, I dont think I could tolerate anymore. When I increase the dose they make me feel very sick and to be honest I still only manage around 3 hours sleep. Hope it works for you. xx
I tried Requip and gave it a good go avfew yrs ago. Lost 30 lbs from being so sick. Some people cannot take the dopamine meds at all, and they can be a nightmare. If you cannot tolerate it by now, probably time to check out other meds. rlshelp.org t is a US web site but the treatment page is golden with meds listed and FOods and Drugs to AVOID.
Hi, I have just registered on Health unlocked and have found this RLS information really helpful. Thanks nightdancer for the link. My GP keeps telling me that the only treatment for RLS is Clonazepam. I am on 2mg and despite about 30 minutes of getting in and out of bed I usually sleep all night but unfortunately most of the day too. I have been off work since January diagnosed with depression but I have always thought it was the effects of the medication. I can't thank you enough as it has given me some hope especially as I am close to being dismissed by my employers.
Not every med works for every person, which makes it just that much harder to treat RLS.
