I was on Requip for several (5+) years until my system got used to it and then changed to Meripex. I think my system is getting used to this also (3+ years), so I'm going to ask my doctor to put me back on Requip. I had absolutely no side affects (except the urge to over-eat) and have had no problems with either Requip or Meripex. Hope this helps.

Requip
I have tried almost all the drugs for RLS and was last on Mirapex for about 8 years gradually I found I had to keep increasing the dose over time and finally went cold turkey to get off after reading on this site about the augmentation effects. Believe me I walked the floor and cried it was so bad. I then was on Percocet for several years and because of the opioid problem the doctor asked me to try Tramadol which I am presently on. It works and I take two pills daily. I find sometimes that I need to take three but try not to take over two unless the symptoms are really bad.
Research augmentation
On my doctors advice I went down the route of increasing the Mirapex dose when this happened. Ended up with augmentation and severe withdrawal from which I am still reovering. I wouldn't advise doing this. I spoke to an "expert" neurologist a while back and he siad rotating the different dopamine agonsists as you are suggesting often works well and is a much better option than increasing dose, so I would give that a try first. Good luck
I have tried mixing different D/A is that what your on about Adge? I was taking repinarole 2mg then I think I started with augmentation so I swapped it for the patch. But then swapped back again to repinarole,& know I am trying very hard to wean myself of all D/A by taking Tramadol. Down to 1/2 mg repinarole. I am finding it very very hard but I will get there eventually.
I guess we're all different. I've had success first with Requip and now with Repinarole. I'm only taking .75mg 3X/day so probably could increase the dosage instead of switching back to Requip. My problem isn't so much the strength, it's finding the right timing to take them. I used to take one at 10:30 am, one at 3:30pm and one at 10:30pm. Lately though the pills don't seem to last as long so I'm still experimenting with when to take them to get the best results. It's a constant battle to find the right brand, but fortunately there are several alternatives to pick from. When I first started taking Requip that was it - I was lucky it worked for enough time for a new one to be developed. Good luck.
hi bumpsgirl requip IS repinarole you just have to be carful when taking it, so you don't get augmentation. There are several brands on the market for repinarole, requip being one then there's adartrel, both are repinarol but the adartrel is used mainly for RLS the requip is mainly for Parkinson's. Please put both in health unlocked search engine & see what comes up. X
Ropinirol is the same as Requip. The latter is the brand name. So actually you haven’t changed meds. And 3 x 0,75 = 2,25mg a day isn’t considered low anymore. You may well be augmenting and may have to consider to wean off ropinirole/Requip and never use these or any other dopamine agonist (like pramipexole/Mirapex) again.
As someone above already has suggested, research augmentation. E.g. on rls-uk.org
Rotating the DA'a is ok to do, IF you havent augmented on them. Once you augment on one then you will augment taking another one.
