Hi Wyllie
Welcome to the forum. I am sorry to learn that a med you have been using is not so effective now. From what I have read, RLS and PD are two distinctly different neurological disorders and there is no conclusive evidence to date of a definite association between the two. I have learned that both are neurological diseases and symptoms of both can be eased/benefited by the use of different anti parkinson meds. People with PD often do seem to suffer with RLS, but whether having RLS raises the risk of developing PD has not been established. This is how I understand it.

Hi Kaarina thank you for replying to my queiry about RLS i will got to see my doctor to see if i can get help but it seems if they just brush me off .i was told that you can not inherit PD and hope this is true .
wyllie.
Hi again Wyllie,
From what I have read, PD is inherited for a very small proportion of people - no more than 5% - PD is directly caused by defects in their genes which can be passed down through generations. However, for the vast majority of people PD is not inherited. The exact causes are unknown, but scientists believe it is a combination of both genetic and environmental factors, such as lifestyle and exposure to chemicals.
It is quite uncommon for more than one person in a family to have the condition. At present, there is no way to predict a person's risk of developing Parkinson's based on having other family members affected.
Do let us know how you go on at the gp appointment and if you get no joy, perhaps it is time to go and see another gp.
