Feel like a weirdo : Hi again started... - Restless Legs Syn...
Feel like a weirdo
Can't comment on the jaw pain but I have the restlessness in my back and arms so I know it travels, never heard of it effecting the jaw before. I think my Mrs has Restless Jaw Syndrome at times too (not belittling what you are experiencing just adding humour to the mix).
I know when I was taking Mirapexin is when the restlessness went from just the legs to all over - not sure if you get that augmentation with Gabapentin but as our make ups are all different....... Is it a big dose you are having? Did you check about gabapentin side-effects - drugs.com/sfx/gabapentin-si...
Worth speaking with the GP see what they say, (although if anythinglike mine they aren 't up to much.
Good luck.
Haha maybe I've got the same as your wife?😉 yeah I've only just started gabapentin so currently on 200mg a day so a low dose but this has started in last few days so wondering if maybe the gabapentin is making it like that my abdomen is also at it I need to keep pushing my belly out aswell.. I'm goin to make an app to c my doctor again as I'm nearly drove crazy with it. I also get my rls in back and arms but thus far tramadol has stopped it but it's not working on the rest 😕
I would see your doctor and get things checked out. It maybe that Gabapentin isnt for you. Altho 200mg is a very low dose. I got to 600mg years ago when i tried it out and that dose didnt work for me, just knocked me out during the day so came off it. Just to add Gabapentin doesnt cause augmentation. The only meds that cause augmentation are the dopamine meds and very rarely Tramadol.
Thanks for the info about Tramadol not usually causing augmentation, that had me a bit worried. It's the first time someone has mentioned it. That's one less worry.
What dose of Tramadol are you taking and how long have you been taking it?
I'm on 100mg a day sometime I take extra if my rls is bothersome and ive been taking it since sept/Oct last year
I was on 150mg (extended release) twice a day and you can go up to 400mg of that a day so you have scope to increase.
I have RLS also in my arms and have experienced it in my whole body a few times. When I told my doctor he said there was no such thing as RLS in the whole body, I wish someone could tell my body that. Someone said that when you have it in other parts it's called AKATHESIA. Look it up. It's exactly what I have felt. Let me know, I'm curious to see if you and I share this same problem all over.
Again another doctor who doesnt know enough about RLS. People can have RLS all over, i have read it many times. If in doubt send a email to the RLS expert over the pond, here is his website and you will see a little yellow box for the email. Dr. B will answer any question which you send him, if you think something you have is related to RLS. rlshelp.org
As far as I know Akathisia is caused often by psychotropic medication and some vitamin deficiencies such as B6 I think.
It also resolves when underlying condition is treated. As far as I know there have been some comparisons - naturally enough but no, I do not believe they are the same thing, (although the Jaw bit that the OP describes is a common thing in Akathisia).
I can assure you I have RLS in my whole body, well, in my legs arms and back to the extent that I am rolling about in pain and discomfort - LITERALLY. Your Dr could do with a bit more reading. As I said in my earlier post I don't believe GP's are up to the job of working on RLS it seems specialist help is the order of the day.
Good luck.
