The wonderful Dr Andy Berkowski has been named a fellow of the AASM.

Well deserved.

We have Dr Berkowski to thank for the recent changes to UK NICE cks guidance.

They based their changes on Dr Berkowski's recent AASM guidance which effectively relegated dangerous dopamine agonists to end of life scenarios.

Thanks Joolsg. That is great news. We must appreciate every bit of help there is out there . It would be great if more could come from the docs and ‘powers-that-be’ in the U.K.

His Fellowship is very well deserved. We need more specialists like Doctor Berkowske. I hope the medical profession, as they say, wakes up and smells the coffee.

Great doctor! He saved me with his prescription of Suboxone, thanks to Joolsg referring me to him. I was running out of hope, but now have my life back!

I'm so pleased to hear this! Buprenorphine saved my life. Literally. I had reached the end of the road.I really hope more RLS patients are prescribed it.

Especially after dopamine agonists have caused damage to our dopamine receptors and other drugs fail.

Fantastic news! How did you discover it was him behind the change on NICE guidance? Must mean NICE are following him/RLS-UK.

The new NICE cks guidance was changed overnight in February. No announcement. No press release. The AASM guidance was officially published in February. And the NICE cks refers specifically to the new AASM guidance. But cks has no 'bite'. UK doctors do NOT have to follow it.

We need stronger official NICE guidelines. And apparently Parliament has to ask for/direct that.

Brilliant! He deserves a lot of praise. Too few are willing to do the hard work to help this community with evidenced based treatments and care.
