So im now up 250mg of Pregabalin per day, taken 30 minutes before bed. Getting aleast 5 hrs of unbroken sleep but my problem is that my RLS seems to be worse than ever while im sleeping. So just wondering what dosage did others on here take to eliminate the RLS? Im sure my last dose of Pramipixole was round about the 7th January, give or take a day.

Pregabalin Dosage

The average effective dose according to the Mayo algorithm is 200 to 300 mg. and you can go up to 600 mg.
Thanks for replying. Up until a Christmas I was on 25mg of Fluoxetine, had been on this for near 7 year but have since reduced that down to nothing after reading comments on here about anti-depressants and Pregabalin, could that be hampering the Pregabalin from working as im sure this takes quite a while to be completely out my system.
No, that low dose of fluoxetine that you stopped six weeks ago should not be affecting your RLS. Are you taking a statin, calcium channel blocker, testosterone, Metformin, Thyroxine or a PPI, currently? All these can make your symptoms of RLS worse than they have to be.
If you decide to try iron please take your iron at night on an empty stomach about two hours before bed. I prefer and use a form of iron called ferrous bisglycinate (56mg). It gets rid of my RLS in 1.5 hours for one night as well as many others on here. I highly recommend you try taking your iron this way. RLS has little to nothing to do with body ferritin levels (unless you’re anemic then raising ferritin will help) and everything to do with something called serum iron. Serum iron plummets at night (as well as dopamine) and we get RLS. If ferritin were a major component in RLS then you should have RLS 24/7, not just at night.

Thanks will look into the Iron supplement.
Hi Clamire-you mentioned serum iron in your reply to Lubopepper & wondered if there is a level that should be maintained & if so what it is ?
As your last dose of Pramipexole was 7 January, that's only 34 days ago.Early days.
Dopamine receptors take months to settle.
If you're getting 5 hours unbroken sleep at this early stage- that is very positive.
I wouldn't increase pregabalin yet.
It can take a while for the effects of fluoxetine to settle as well.
For now- maybe add 30mg codeine a few nights a week?
I think your RLS will improve dramatically with each month away from Pramipexole and fluoxetine.
Did you ever have your ferritin checked?
I had loads of tests done just before Christmas, as far as I know everything came back as normal.
"Normal" not good enough!
You need to be at least 100 and up to 200 would be better.
Go get your actual numbers from the surgery--- it's your information -- you are entitled to it --and don't be fobbed off by supercilious officialdom.
I take 150mg at 5 in the afternoon and 300mg before bedtime along with 60mg codeine phosphate and lucky to get 3 maybe 4 hours of broken sleep and pillows and quilt etc can end up anywhere so if your getting 5 hours of unbroken sleep maybe the medication is working for you and I wish you well praying you get many more decent nights sleep because RLS is horrible to say the least
