WEB LINKS

Too many people tell elaborate stories or quote articles or websites and totally disregard the web link.

If you cannot manage a web link, learn how to save a web page so you can share that.

Please make a web link your number one priority. We will all benefit.

It might be helpful if you could give a step by step instruction on exactly how to do this?

Using the "share" symbol or copy n paste .

HU doesn't make it easy to use links.

I mostly have to share to notepad and then copy to upload to here.

It is not as simple as it should be, especially for us ould ones only used to the forked stick message post system.

Glad to hear it’s not just me that has this issue! I too have to paste to notes then copy from there.

Instructions for highlighting and sharing the website.

Press the left mouse button down, (hold it down) and drag your mouse button along the whole name in the bar across the top, OR merely click once in the address bar (URL) with the left mouse button.

Once you have gotten over the excitement of finding a new skill, and before doing anything else, lift the left finger from the mouse.

Now, point the mouse button onto the highlighted bar, this time, using the pinky finger, depress the right button on the mouse and you will get a multiple-choice menu. Click COPY.

Congratulations.... You now have the link which you can share.

Share the link to the page you are writing on, by pointing the mouse on to the text area where you are writing. Using the right mouse button, click once. That will give you multiple choices. You only need to click on PASTE ("click on" meaning press the word paste using the left mouse button)

Bingo, the job is done.

Thank you.However- I only use my phone.

The laptop sits idle except for 3 times a year when I do my VAT returns ( the certificate is stored inside the laptop and not transferable)

But I'm getting the hang of using the copy n paste on most screens. Some screens don't seem to like that being done to them.🥴

Thanks greatly for the lesson. It will be very helpful to many people on here.

👍💚😎

I am 77 and mastered the skill years ago. Its not hard to learn and once you have used it you will wonder what other simple things are out there. Maybe something like opening multiple pages so you can scoot between websites for comparing items.

I sometimes have so many websites open that some disappear off the side of the screen and are hard to find.

All you have to do is go to the website and copy the address at the top and paste it here.

I too had made an incorrect assumption that people were savvy enough to use that basic skill.

I hope my attempt to teach has been successful.

Perhaps a please and thank you would be a nice way to start?

Dear ucdail-no-1,

Please be gentle with us . We are all very delicate in our situations with RLS , particularly when we write a post BECAUSE we are in desperate straits.

Plus as Madlegs1 says , many of us… well me anyway, are computer challenged 😱😂

I would imagine that we have all been there, and from my own experience looking for a website that someone has mentioned but not provided a link to adds to the frustration..

If you are reading something on a site that looks worthy of sharing, start by "highlighting the website name" (Copy website URL)

Instructions for highlighting and sharing the website.

Press the left mouse button down, (hold it down) and drag your mouse button along the whole name in the bar across the top, OR merely click once in the address bar (URL) with the left mouse button.

Once you have got over the excitement of finding a new skill, and before doing anything else, lift the left finger from the mouse.

Now, point the mouse button onto the highlighted bar, this time, using the pinky finger, depress the right button on the mouse and you will get a multiple choice menu. Click COPY.

Congratulations.... You now have the link which you can share.

Bingo, the job is done.

Practice that a few times and discover the simplicity.

This simple act can be done in many places on your computer to move pages, pictures or web links.

I hope my description is not too complicated. The process is second nature to me but trying to describe it in details others will understand is fraught with misinterpretation.

Its so important for people to increase their computer skills to at least a Basic Level for their own benefit.

I’m not computer illiterate but I genuinely was unable to paste a link here last time I tried. No idea why.

I agree with you ucdailoi-no-1but it’s not possible for everyone. I also agree with Qalba… “Keep sharing” . Someone will really ‘get’ your/our distress and find comforting and helpful words to share back . 🤗
