RLS UK award for Dr Buchfuhrer

Apologies if I am way behind on this story. I've not been on the forum for a while.

But if anyone has not seen this:

rls-uk.org/post/andrew-wils...

then I recommend a listen. Music to the ears - plus news of the Nidra device nidrarls.com/.

Again, apologies if this is old news to you all.

I'd be glad to hear from anyone who knows more than I do about the device which apparently is now available in some states in the US. If it weren't mentioned by such a respected consultant then I would probably file it under 'latest expensive gimmick' but this might be something to hope makes it to the UK?

There have been a number of posts on here about the Nidra device. Put nidra or noctrix in the search box to find them. Are you in the US?

HI, no, I am in the UK but hoping that eventually the device might make it here.

Dr Buchfuhrer is running a study with Noctrix. When I first got my Nidra bands two weeks ago, I was called asking if I would like to participate in a one or two year follow up study to monitor my results with their device going forward. I did enroll, and had a 20 minute call with Dr B to start the process. While I have a high opinion of him based on his articles, etc, I wonder if his association with Noctrix is “selling out” a bit?

How are you finding the Nidra bands?

I went into detail in a post last week. No significant changes this week. I'm still generally just getting short-term relief, and that only with mild symptoms; it doesn't touch more serious symptoms for me. I reduced my buprenorphine dose in order to bring about symptoms because that is when you are supposed to use the bands. If things don't improve, I will be quitting them. I'm not seeing much side-effect improvement with the reduced buprenorphine dose, and I'm losing sleep because of trying the bands once or twice before eventually taking more buprenorphine. They tell me that most people get improved results over the course of a couple months as your body adapts to the treatment, so I'll keep trying...

Thanks so much for sending Dr Buchfuhrer's talk. So good to hear and his confirmation about buprenorphine.I was on zoom at our UK RLS meeting & Dr Mark's talk cut out so we could not hear it on zoom.

I am very grateful for you posting his talk now. Suberino.
