DISCOURAGED

After waiting 6months for my Vanderbilt visit Im discouraged. Four hour drive, 15 min. visit, with, highly recommended DR. Kanika Bagai. Had all my food and symptom charts with my med history.

Currently on 350mg Pregabalin, was hopeing for increase, or iron??, or sublingual Buprenorphine, "something".( I liked what Jool's had to say about her meds.)

I was tested again with an Iron Panel, the results are fine. Next was to have a Sleep Study done. (Oct17th) Im not understanding the need for a Sleep Study as I have no problem with sleep. I have trouble sometimes falling asleep due to RLS, but once I fall to sleep I sleep very well through the night.

Im discouraged, I think the Sleep study is unnecessary (unless I am not understanding something) and I feel there wasn't anything positive with my visit that I had very "high" expectations.🙁

What Say You??

My guess is he is just being thorough. What did he say about increasing your pregabalin or getting buprenorphine?

She said nothing, wanted the blood (iron panel) and sleep results first to determine a road for me to take.

That's reasonable.

Did you find out what your ferritin level actually was? Doctors usually class very low values as “fine” or “normal” but RLS sufferers often benefit from levels in excess of 100 µg/L.

I am also a patient at Vandy for RLS. I balked at the sleep study and my husband agreed as I dont even snore. Turns out that i hsve severe obstructive sleep apnea! The cpap greatly improved my fatigue and anxiety! I will not even nap without it.

Vandy is very methodical and stick to their "protocols". I had to repeat every single ned that had failedme. Finally I was given an opioid that worked great. However they wont prescribe across state line or help me finf a physician in state even though they have multiple facilities in my town.

Hang in there!

There is research indicating that for some people, treating sleep apnea will eliminate RLS symptoms.

My doctor thought my blood panel was fine but I decided to take 80 mg iron every other night and the results have been really great, it's taken about 3 months but my rls has decreased a lot, I was on pregabalin but the weight gain was horrendous as I had to keep increasing the dose so I came off it, I would suggest taking iron every other day I also take magnesium and vit d
