Hello again, I have ED due to gabapentin. You suggested I ask my Doctor about Dipyridamole, I did and she is said she could not prescribe it for ED. Is there anything else I can try, Thanks
ED...: Hello again, I have ED due to... - Restless Legs Syn...
ED...
Dipyridamole does not cause ED nor does it affect it. . Since your ED is from gabapentin, slowly getting off gabapentin will solve it. Tell your doctor you want it for RLS not ED.
Hi, I did say it was for RLS she refused point blank to prescribe it. She said the only choice I had was to come off gabapentin which I can't do as I get RLS almost 24/7. Or stay on Gabapentin and have ED. My relationship is on the verge of ending, ED has caused so many problems for me. Thanks anyway
There are other medications for RLS. If gabapentinoids don't help or the side effects are intolerable, low dose opioids are very effective.Particularly methadone and Buprenorphine.
You might have to fight to get them though as GPs aren't familiar with the studies on their effectiveness.
Dr Winkelman's opioid register shows that opioids for RLS do not cause addiction ( unless there's a history of drug abuse) or tolerance ( unlike when used for pain relief).
Most GPs will not prescribe Buprenorphine unless a neurologist makes the recommendation.
Hello, methadone and Buprenorphine also cause ED. It looks like I will just have to get on with it and not have a life. Thanks anyway
They may do.... but unless and until you try them, you won't know. We all respond differently and each drug affects us differently.
Would a drug to treat ED like viagra help? You might try lowering dose gabapentin.
Hi, thebarber,
I'm a 79-year-old male who has been on methadone for 5 years. It has absolutely not caused me the slightest amount of ED. RLS dosages are extremely low - so low that they don't even cause tolerance. They are so effective that you should at least try them.
