I have recently found out a friend of mine suffers severe RLS and pretty sure she is experiencing augmentation. Her doctor has her on ropinirole and just tells her to increase her dose and prescribes accordingly. She lives nearish Portland, Lake Oseego (sp) so thought to ask here of any neurologist she could ask for a referral to. I have sent her the link for this site in hope she signs up but I think there is some fear and her experience of being being dismissed is making her reluctant to join. I am trying to support her in the same way you all have supported me on this journey. She is also taking wellbutrin I believe for depression.

help for a friend
Lake Oswego is a suburb of Portland: jinolke has referred to using an unnamed neurologist at Oregon Health Science University in Portland, who had at least had him on gabapentin rather than a dopamine agonist. He may see this tag, or you could try sending him a message using the Chat function.
Or SueJohnson may have a name....
At least your friend is on wellbutrin for depression rather than anything else: I just wish sufferers could get it more easily here in the UK!
Time to Lawyer up?
I have Dr. Tracy Bazan a neurologist at 5050 NE Hoyt St #315, Portland, OR 97213 (503) 215-8580. I gave her name to Neuroseeker, I don't know if she saw her. You can message her and ask and if so what her experience was with her. Otherwise the best way to find out if she is knowledgeable and up-to-date is to ask if she has read the Mayo Clinic Updated Algorithm on RLS.
If your friend does she see her or the neurologist jinolke sees it would be great if you let me know what her experience was with her or jinolke's neurologist and the name and his experience for my notes.
Maybe tell your friend that this site exists because the medical profession is, at best, woefully ignorant about RLS; and, at worst, causing great damage and suffering because of their ignorance and stubborness. This is a condition that requires so much self-management to identify, monitor, and treat. Getting educated about it is the only successful way forward.
I have sent her the info for this sight and strongly recommended she join. The help and support is second to none.
Also send her the link to the Mayo Algorithm so she can read for herself. Https://mayoclinicproceedings.org/a...
You're a true friend!
Not only she should read the Mayo thing but she should print it out and take it to her doctor to read. Sometimes you have to get in their face -- and if her doctor kicks her out, so much the better so she can find one who is more up to date on what works.
