Could high iron be making things worse?

My RLS has gotten painful over the last couple of weeks. Partly attributable to stress and mild sleep deprivation.

I came across the following video by Dr. Andy Berkowski:

He talks about patients experiencing painful RLS having higher iron levels in their body.

I have stopped the 50mg Iron bisglycinate I have been taking over the last couple of months for now. It’s the only other thing I can think of that has changed and has any correlation with my worsening symptoms other than aforementioned stress and poor sleep.

Can you check now? I reposted it. Seems to be working now. In case it doesn't,

Interesting. It may well be the reason your RLS has become painful. I haven't heard this said before. Higher bodily iron levels being associated with the painful type of RLS.Let us know if the RLS pain settles.

I have in my notes that painful RLS is less likely to be associated with iron deficiency. Also that patients tend to have a higher IRLS rating.

What I found especially interesting is that those who suffer from augmentation may go on to the painful variety when they didn't have it before.

I don’t know, I felt that when I was trying to supplement with iron, the RLS got worse. I was on HRT at the time and suspect it was really messing with my dopamine and serotonin. So there may be a connection. I have some pain in my legs due to fibromyalgia.
