Clean of Ropinirole.

Ropinirole worked well for me when I first started 5 years ago, in fact I thought it was a miracle drug and I slept better than I had for years. That was until it didn’t work so well and it was eventually increased to 4mg,before I realised (from this site) Ropinirole was now the problem. Reducing it very slowly and eventually coming off all together took a year, and was hell at times. I’m now 3 days clear of Ropinirole . Sleep isn’t great and I still have RL, but nothing compared to the symptoms I had when taking 4mg of Ropinirole.

im now going to take some time to consider my next move. I’m afraid I don’t trust the doctors, they don’t understand RL, I need to educate myself on what is safe and ask the medics for what I want.

the lesson learnt for me is to listen to fellow sufferers because the experts don’t always know best

That's great! So pleased for you. I know it wasn't easy.

I assume you still have my reply for what's next when you are ready. If not go to your profile which shows your post.

Well done for getting off Ropinirole. You will still have withdrawal symptoms and little sleep for about 3 to 4 weeks as your dopamine receptors settle.

Do make sure your GP gets full iron panel blood tests, as required by NHS and NICE guidance.

Raising your serum ferritin above 100ųg, preferably 200ųg/L may be enough to settle your RLS and avoid further meds.

And PLEASE report the severe, worsening RLS as a result of Ropinirole on the Yellow Card Scheme. Unless we keep reporting how common augmentation really is, the ignorant medical profession will keep prescribing and keep telling patients it is rare!

Congratulations! Can I advise you, if you have any left, to take them to the pharmacy for disposal. After quitting pramipexole, I had some left and after 6 months of being without I took some, and it put me right back into augmentation and I had to start the whole process again. The brain remembers.
