BUPRENORPHINE & WEIGHT LOSSLESS
If you search community Posts for buprenorphine+weight and sort by Relevance, the first few Posts that come up include both search terms (see link below: the other Posts that come up after the first few will refer to either buprenorphine or weight in general...)
Alternatively, you can of course just Post your own specific question or statement on the subject and wait for Replies
Dick I think we were communicating about this subject. My GP cannot believe I have dropped from 9st 3lbs to 8st 3lbs onsuch a very low dose of buprenorphine & thinks he should investigate further, although blood tests were OK.
I am only on 200mcg. One tablet every night.
I would like to know if you or anyone else has lost so much as one stone in weight????
Simkin
Hey Simkin, Since starting BuprenorphineI have gone from 184 lbs. to 165 1lbs over a couple of months . But I also started metformin at the same time so it is difficult to determine which medication caused all of my weight loss. Perhaps both. My bloodwork is normal and my doctor is not worried, but I can't say I am not a little worried.
hi I have been on that medication for 3 1/2 years and I have gone from about 180 pounds to I now weigh 107 pounds. I can’t look at food. It makes me sick. I can’t eat it I feel like I’m going to throw up and I’m going to I get sick therefore I just keep losing weight so Not necessarily a horrible thing but I would like to feel like eating now and then but if it’s a side effect, I have to deal with then I will deal with it. I don’t like it, but I don’t want my legs acting up either.💜
Weight loss if needed is a positive side effect of Buprenorphine, but finding the process of eating repellent is not so good and I'm sorry you have to deal with that. I'm fortunate I guess in that my weight loss is a consequence simply of diminished appetite which began with the taking of the sublingual tablets 16 months ago. Not sure exactly how much weight has dropped, but it'll be of the orders stated in other posts. My bloods are fine too (I have them taken routinely every 3 months) and I'm in good general health. It makes up for insomnia, which is the other side effect of the tablets. Much less positive!
I have replied below.
Ok Dick. Thanks. Useful to know when I speak to GP about weight loss. Simkin
