thank you ChickenTwisty. That is very helpful for those who have severe RLS for whom non-pharmacological remedies just are not enough, and who want to educate their GP.

Very useful to have it all in one place.

This is the a technical report, there was a discussion article pisted here on it a couple of weeks back. It's a long technical read, the PDF is easier to digest. If I am reading it right (I started in it but skipped to 3 column discussion) these are the main points:

RLS heritability is eightfold normal population, higher heritability in women.

RLS is likely influenced by unobserved environmental factors. Identified need for tracking environmental exposures in genetically susceptible individuals. Hands up?

Confirmed that RLS is linked to neurodevelopment and neurotransmission, suggesting critical developmental periods for genetic contributions to RLS.

Identified several druggable genes and potential therapeutic targets.

Thete was significant genetic correlations between RLS, insomnia, depression, type 2 diabetes, osteoarthritis, and respiratory diseases. Healthy lifestyle choices may reduce RLS risk.

Not what you're looking for?
