Pregablin

I haven't posted for a while but I thought I would share some experience of my time taking Pregabalin, some 5 years I think.

Before becoming a Patient of the Sleep Disorders team at Guy's, I saw several Neurologists who tried to help me with various medicines in an attempt to control my very bad RLS. They failed!

The Guy's team got me off of Dopamine agonist treatments and augmentation. Over 8 weeks I came off of them and onto Pregabalin. Over time my prescription has made 150mg, 100mg, and 50mg Pregabalin tablets available to me. I keep to a max of 350mg per day. Normally 50mg during the morning and 300mg 8 pm every evening. I also take a cocktail of additional medicines, blood thinners, Prostrate reduction, a Statin, something to keep my arteries clear, and Trazodone.

If I am traveling a long journey I always take 50mg of Pregabalin before setting off. That ensures I don't get RLS on the trip.

I can't explain why this should be so but if I take 2x 100mg Pregabalin before bed it seems to work better at suppressing the RLS during the night than when I take 2x150mg. Then there are occasions when the 2x100mg are ineffective and I'm back to taking 2x150mg !!!

Pregabalin has become the most important medicine in my life. I cannot imagine ever coming off of it, I would find that a very worrying and scary.

That's great. Who did you see there as there are so few knowledgeable doctors, I would like to add his/her name to my list in case anyone else needs a recommendation for a good doctor. Was is Dr. Guy Leschziner?

I did see Dr Leschziner and then a very nice young lady Doctor from Italy , and she was absolutely supportive and prescribed Pregabalin. I'm currently a patient of Dr Lechlan Stranks and he is very thorough consider myself very lucky to have the support of the Guy's team.

Hi Doversoul . I am writing to you from Australia, thanks for you post on Pregabalin. I have just started my journey on this medication and still trying to work out the best fit for me. Currently I'm taking 2 x 400mg of gabapentin at 3.00pm, another 2 x 400mg of gabapentin at 5.00pm and 2 x 150mg of pregabalin at 7.00pm . I'm not getting total relieve from rls but defiantly better. I wondering should I drop the Gabapentin and just go with the pregabalin ? as I feel that I'm just topping myself up earlier in the afternoon when in fact the pregabalin is mostly doing all the work. I read that pregabalin over 300mg daily has little affect at higher doses and increases the side effects (which I found out the hard way) Have you had any experience with using both Gabapentin and pregabalin together and if so, value your knowledge along with any other tips and ideas that you have found to work
