followed your advice and saw dr. today

Thanks to everyone who sent me well wishes and information about what was happening to me. My regular doctor came back to work and I saw her today and she prescribed Gabapentin and Hydrocodone 10 mg. Put me on a stronger iron supplement and will do infusion if that doesn't help. So I will wean off Ropinirole and pray the Gabapentin works. It's so difficult to get something like Hydrocodone here with all the hype about so many people getting addicted. Doctors now leave patients in pain rather than prescribe an opioid. I will keep reading the posts and learning more about this condition. I had no idea before this that RLS was so complicated. My Polymyalgia is flaring so I may take a load of steroid for 2 days and see if it kicks it again. I think the RLS pain and some stress here at home caused it to flare. I absolutely refuse to go back on the steroid again.

My best to all and remember to put on some music and dance like no one is watching!

Till later,

Linda

That's great that your doctor listened to you. So pleased for you.

Just be aware that Hydrocodone only lasts for 4 to 6 hours so you may get mini withdrawals if you don't take it that often.

I’ve been on 1800 mg Gabapentin (2x300mg three times a day) for about a year now. Afraid it’s not helping me up every night walking around. I’m seeing Professor Matthew Walker at the National Hospital on Monday morning. I’ll let you know what he says and if he prescribes anything different.

if doctors take the time to learn a bit about buprenorphine, they generally get more comfortable prescribing it over hydrocodone. Longer half-life makes mini-withdrawals unlikely, and the typical Rx combines a little nalexone, which supposedly makes abuse almost impossible.

You’re probably aware of it, but steroids are a big RLS trigger.

For me, as for many here, gabapentin did nothing while still on a DA, and even for months after stopping the DA. So your relief is likely to be entirely attributable to the opioid.

Not what you're looking for?
