would like to know if trazodone has helped people sleep or if it’s made RLS symptoms worse?

Trazodone helps with insomnia and does not make RLS worse. It also helps anxiety and depression.

Let me amend my reply. A very few people have said trazodone made their RLS worse, but it is known as safe for RLS and there was 1 article that said it helped RLS and a person on the forum said the same thing.

One of the safer ones to try for sleep. It's a lower dose than when it's used for depression. Best thing is you will know fairly quickly if it helps with your insomnia. You should also know quickly if it as an adverse effect on your RLS. Good luck beating insomnia.

It helps me sleep and does not affect RLS at all.

Thank you for your responses. I have 1 more question for those of you that are familiar with trazodone. I was prescribed 100 mg. Took my first 1 last night at 11:30. Went to sleep quickly and it did not bother my RLS - thank God! But at 4:30 I was up for the day. My question is, can I cut my pull in half and take 50 mg before bed and the other 50 mg part way through the night? I’m retired so I don’t have to get up early most days.

I would guess about 11 or 12 years ago trazodone drove my legs crazy, but within this last year, I tried it again and it has helped tremendously so that’s all I can say. This is a crazy condition.I’ve had RLS since i was little.💜

I have tried Trazodone (50mg) twice now, separated by a few weeks. Trying it to help me sleep through the night. Both times, it made my RLS worse and I couldn't get to sleep (which, thankfully, isn't my problem -- my problem is staying asleep after a couple hours). Xanax (Alpraxolam) works quite well with 0.5mg for me. But, I'm trying to find something else so I'm not taking that much Xanax every night -- plus my doctor says sleep on Xanax isn't optimal. About 3mg THC with some CBD is pretty good too, but Xanax is noticeably better.
