RSL Spike

Hi all, I have now been taking Gabapentin for 5 weeks, my current dose is 600mg which until last night controlled my symptoms effectively. But I was woken last night with the most awful RSL I've ever experienced. It seemed that my whole body was twitching and jerking even my face my back my arms and legs. I'm going to increase my dose again but before I do, would add that yesterday was a full-on stressed out day! Am currently weaning off sertraline but my GP surgery had taken it of repeat prescription. I had a almighty argument with the receptionist who seemed to think I had had enough time to be weaned off them. However I am still getting severe withdrawal symptoms and need more time to stop them. Eventually I demanded to speak to a clinician who agreed to issue another prescription but I didn't need the hassle and confrontation I had to go through with the receptionist just to get a repeat prescription. There is no quick way to wean off this drug. Could the stress be responsible for the awful exacerbation of my RLS just as I thought it was being well controlled.

It could be the stress, but such a severe attack usually indicates a trigger of some sort.

Check back on your intake diary to see what it might be?

Good luck.

Yes. Stress is a major trigger for RLS. Also, weaning off Sertraline causes electric shock sensations and restlessness.I suspect that it's the stress plus withdrawal from sertraline.

I agree with Joolsg

Sertraline is probably the culprit in all this. SSRI Discontinuation is stress enough to trigger RLS.
